If they could secure Tate & Flynn that would be a good start. With the way they are dragging their feet on the WR issue, I'd almost think that Blackmon would HAVE to be the target at #4.

I would absolutely love that pick, but I still think they need to sign a veteran to help him out/mentor.BR1986FB;1115747 wrote:If they could secure Tate & Flynn that would be a good start. There's virtually NOTHING left. We're looking at guys like Mark Clayton, etc now.wes_mantooth;1115750 wrote:I would absolutely love that pick, but I still think they need to sign a veteran to help him out/mentor.
Adam Schefter said something to the effect of "the first two days of FA are like shopping at Niemann Marcus...after that, it's picking through the bins at Walmart."

If the Browns trade for Tate, it will just make their case stronger for trading down.

Well, knowing the Browns....they probably won't draft Blackmon anyhow. More than likely we will trade down several times until we are sitting with the #22 and #23 pick.BR1986FB;1115752 wrote:There's virtually NOTHING left. We're looking at guys like Mark Clayton, etc now.

I would trade picks with St Louis and add another pick. They would still be picking at #6. Or stay put and take Blackmon. Either way I'd be happy.wes_mantooth;1115754 wrote:Well, knowing the Browns....they probably won't draft Blackmon anyhow. If you trade down with St Louis, you don't add another "pick." You make them bleed from the ass after playing you against Washington to drive up the price for RG3. I've heard that the Browns would be VERY reluctant to deal with the Rams after this unless the deal were pretty sweet.royal_k;1115758 wrote:I would trade picks with St Louis and add another pick. And BTW, in typical Cleveland "fashion" I'm expecting them to be left out in the cold in their QB search. I expect another year of supremely shitty offense on the lake.

I have never seen less urgency from a regime than I see from H & H as far as building a team.
We are getting lapped by the tortoise (and can't even see the hare) right now if that is possible.
Throw out the 5 year plan, at this rate we are on the 50 year plan.

I would prefer that over a ridiculous contract for Flynn who probably isn't a huge stepup. I know most don't agree, but I would prefer Kolb.BR1986FB;1115763 wrote:If you trade down with St Louis, you don't add another "pick." He would come far cheaper than Flynn (money that could be used elsewhere), and probably is a wash talent wise. I would be fine with that.I know most don't agree, but I would prefer Kolb.

I'm kind of getting the feeling like this is your favorite show on TV that has been going on for about 5 years and then they cancel it, abruptly, without any closure. I just feeli like they will continue building through the draft, slow & steady, and when the 5 year "plan" is over they are like "see ya." I know Holmgren will be gone but I'd hope they 'd be grooming Heckert to take his place but who knows...like Heckert said "I may not even be here in 5-6 years."IggyPride00;1115764 wrote:I have never seen less urgency from a regime than I see from H & H as far as building a team.

I LOVE the fact that they are building long-term but for god sakes you HAVE to use free agency is you have ANY plan to gain ground. I'm not saying they needed to go out and sign Mario Williams, Vincent Jackson and Carl Nicks but there are some young guys available that could be brought in as starter upgrades. And the fact that they are sitting on their hands at WR is baffling.

At this point I'd be fine if Kolb became available but I'm doubting that Flynn will get a ridiculous contract.wes_mantooth;1115767 wrote:I would prefer that over a ridiculous contract for Flynn who probably isn't a huge stepup. I know most don't agree, but I would prefer Kolb.
If he was going to get an excessive contract, someone would've pounced on him in the first hour of FA and it would've been a "done deal."
What this says to me is that the market isn't as scorching for Mr Flynn as he and his camp thought it would be.
The Browns have said that there would be interest but they had a certain "threshold" that they wouldn't exceed.

+1. Fuck that shit. Sorry, but that is a ridiculous demand for a backup RB. WTF is up with these teams and their ridiculous demands recently?Commander of Awesome;1115787 wrote:a first? GTFO. I don't want to give up a 2nd for Ben Tate.

Is Tate that much of an upgrade over Hillis that it is worth giving up a high 2nd round pick for?
They should have just resigned Hillis and moved on to worrying about actual holes and how they planned on filling them.

2nd round is where I was hoping to get our WR. Randle, Stephen Hill, Quick, Sanu, Jeffery, Toon, etc... These guys are going to be there in the 2nd, get your highest rated one and move on. Pick up James in the 3rd or another good RB. RBs are a dime a dozen, and can fit right in.

The only reason he's a backup is that Arian Foster is in front of him.like_that;1115788 wrote:+1. Fuck that shit. Sorry, but that is a ridiculous demand for a backup RB. WTF is up with these teams and their ridiculous demands recently?

3rd is the highest I would go. He was a backup RB, granted a good backup, but still. I hate how these teams overvalue players. If DA played for the Browns this past season and had the 2007 type season last season then the Browns could have recieved 2 firsts for him.wes_mantooth;1115791 wrote:I like Tate....I would be ok with a 2nd.

Tate is everything Hillis is, and more, PLUS he's not injury prone. Same type of punishing battering ram but he stays healthy.IggyPride00;1115789 wrote:Is Tate that much of an upgrade over Hillis that it is worth giving up a high 2nd round pick for?
