It will...until McCoy throws his FIRST regular season interception. The fact Smith isn't on an NFL team will just add fuel to the fire!

Call me biased, but its a damn joke he isnt starting for the 49ers. Alex Smith is and always will be a bust. Kapernick or however you spell it will never amount to anything in the NFL either. The 49ers also let another guy go, in Nate Davis, who showed potential when he had the chance. However, he butted heads with Singletary so I'd figure thats part of the reason he was released.

You are probably right. Only you and the Omaha Nighthawks' GM know how good Troy Smith is. There are numerous NFL teams with issues at QB yet none of them take a chance on him? Wonder why that is.

Yep. Lets see how good the 49ers are this year LOL. The only way they have a somewhat close to .500 record is because they play in the weakest division in the NFL.

I didn't say the 49ers would be good did I? If Smith is good enough to start for ANY NFL team at all this year (like you said), he wouldn't have just signed with Omaha.

Please quote me on where I said Smith can start for ANY NFL team this year. Bet you cant.

I should have said and meant to say any NFL team at all, as in at least 1 NFL team.

Bet you can't give a solid reason as to why Smith should start for the 49ers other than Alex Smith will always be a bust and Kaepernick won't amount to anything. I assume the next proof you will provide is that he would have been the starter with the Ravens if he hadn't gotten sick during camp, right?

Good for Troy. Still the best QB in Notre Dame history.

I'm really surprised he can't be a 3rd stringer on some teams, or at least go play in the CFL.

You may be correct. But anyone using the "he couldn't find anywhere in the NFL?" as proof does have a lot more going for them compared to what you are using.

Nobody can convince me that this crudball from West Virginia that the Browns have as a backup is a better quarterback than Troy Smith

Wonder why that is
It probably has to do with economics. It is far less expensive to pay a rookie to sit on the bench than it is to pay a 5 year veteran.

Kerry Collins got $14 million from the Colts. If it were economics, I bet Smith would have been cheaper than that.

Not to sit on the bench as a 3rd string QB. Collins is insurance if Peyton can't go or gets hurt. He will be the 2nd QB at Indy in a worst case scenario.

Seneca Wallace is the back-up. The West Virginia guy's the third stringer. Which means that Troy would have to agree to sign with a team to be their third stringer after alternating between starting and second stringing it. And likely get paid accordingly to having a role of no importance (and the WV kid would be cheaper in any event).

I'd guess from the perspective of Smith, he's doing whatever nothing league he's currently in to get snaps while waiting for actual jobs to come around due to injury and whatnot. Signing to be buried on a bench isn't what he's looking for.

Likely a moot point. Browns will likely start the season with 2 QB's on the roster and maybe Brown on the practice squad.

The fact that Derek Anderson is SECOND on the depth chart in Carolina and Troy Smith is out of the league says that not many NFL GM's hold a very high opinion of Smith.
