How is what you're saying about Troy Smith any different?

Sure, some people may believe that he's an "NFL caliber QB" but you seem to think he's the next Kurt Warner. "Just give em a chance and he'll be a Hall of Famer." That's how it comes across.

He may belong on an NFL roster as a THIRD stringer but he doesn't deserve to be STARTING over ANY QB in the league, including Alex Smith.

What? How? LOL. By saying he should start for one of the worst franchises in the NFL over a bust?!?

He's NOT an NFL starting QB. He may belong on a roster but he's NOT a starter. That's just blatant OSU bias. If you polled the nation on this and had a large sample size, probably 98% would say he's NOT an NFL starter while the 2% (OSU homers) believe he would be.

If he was so dynamite, why haven't teams with crappy QB situations (Indy, Jax, etc) knocked on his door to be their starter? Answer...because he's NOT that talented.

I'd tend to agree but have you seen Tavaris Jackson?

This only makes the agrument against Troy Smith stronger. Do you think the NFL blackballed him or something? I just dont get it. If he was good enough to be a starter, he would be. Its as simple as that.

In defense of Smith (idk why i'm doing this...), I think the reason no one is asking him to be their backup or 3rd string is because he was asking for so much money. I don't think Smith should be a starter, but he should definitely be at least 3rd string somewhere in the NFL. Hell, I'd take him in Cleveland as 3rd string.

I have no qualms with the "3rd stringer" comment but there are people on here saying he should be a friggin STARTER?

I'd want him NOWHERE near Cleveland Browns Stadium. First time McCoy throws a pick, the asshole (not talking about ALL of them) Buckeye homers would be chanting "We want Troy" and then it begins, AGAIN.

Haha yeah I could definitely see that...but he'd be a pretty solid 3rd stringer. When I think of "we're down to our 3rd stringer" I think, we're fucked. But if Troy Smith was your 3rd stringer you could at least compete. Which is all you can really ask for out of your 3rd stringer.

The starting QB talk is bat shit crazy talk.

If Troy Smith was about four inches taller, he'd be in the NFL.

Mantooth posted earlier that he heard he has been blackballed by the league but the reasons were not disclosed.

Negative Ned on knr reported it, but he wouldn't say why. Also, ned said that he had quite a few problems with Smith when they were in school at St Eds together...so maybe he has an axe to grind.

Alex Smith threw for 291 yards and 2 TD's to move the 49ers to 3-1 in the NFL. Imagine what San Fransisco could do if they had a real QB like Troy Smith.

4-0 no doubt, and 4-0 ATS to boot.

You also just brought up that Clemson should have been using the hate as motivation for all the recent years they have collapsed. Live in the now man, or at least stop sending mixed signals.

I'd much rather have Troy Smith than Colt McCoy.

Good argument. How many games has Troy won as a starter? How many of those were in the playoffs?

Well since you first asked about the 49ers winning all of 3 games with Alex Smith, I assume you are only referring to this year. He is 3-1 as a starter in the NFL this year.
