I'm not so worried like some of you guys are about their offense. See we are really good at this one thing on defense that Oregon State couldn't do.

It's called tackling.

Ducks can score alot of points quickly in the defense-less Pac 10. They will still be able to move the ball vs the Bucks but they will be uncomfortable with the pace of the game which Tress will dictate. The out of sync Ducks will not be able to contain a grinding run oriented OSU offense and Bucks will triumph 20 - 13.

vball you really are a loser. Sorry that someone is critical of a team that lost to Purdue and an average Pac 10 team, and has lost every big game they have played in against a team with talent since 2002.

When Tressel proves himself as a big game coach again, I'll back off the criticism.

And please explain how in my post I showed complete lack of knowledge of football?

Looking at last year's Bowl game, OSU really did play well and Tressel got really creative, so maybe we'll see something similar this year.

If the Buckeyes can slow down Masoli then they will have a good chance to win, and Tressel must turn his offense loose as he will need to score I believe a minimum of 28 points to win. Oregon doesn't play much defense so if OSU abandons the do nothing offense theu used to beat Michigan and Iowa and actually try to score a touchdown each time they get the ball, they should be ok. Ohio State 34 Oregon 24

Yea, I don't know if "Tressel ball" can win this game. That's my fear. I think OSU is more talented than Oregon and certainly has the defense to slow them down. But they can't come out and run the ball up the middle on first and second down and throw on third, and play the field position game.

The offense must be aggressive, and the defense will likely have to create a few turnovers.

For those predicting a win by OSU, what makes you think that OSU can beat them?

I hope OSU wins as much as the next guy, but I honestly don't know what you see that gives you confidence in this game other than the fact that we are OSU fans.

I have a bad feeling about this one. Sure Ohio State's defense is really really good, but Oregon's offense is really really good. I guess it comes down to whichever team's 2nd best unit plays better (Ohio state's offense vs. Oregon's defense).

I am thinking there could be a chance that Ohio State could get up on them early, because Oregon really hasn't played in a bowl game like this recently (BCS hoopla).

Oregon is a very tough opponent, but I like the Buckeyes' chances. The Oregon offense is explosive and extremely difficult to defend, but OSU's defense is pretty disciplined and tackles well. They may not shut down Masoli and company, but I think they can at least limit them. Oregon's defense is not their strong point, so I think the Buckeyes may be able to run the football with success, which would allow them to control the clock, and keep Oregon's offense off the field.

Overall, it's going to take a great effort by the Buckeyes, but if they take care of the football and tackle well, I think they'll be right there in the end with a chance to win. This is a huge game for the Ohio State program and its reputation. A must-win bowl game for the Buckeyes, so hopefully they rise to the occasion.

This game reminds me of the Texas Fiesta Bowl last year. Everyone said Ohio State had no chance against the amazing Texas offense, but they shut it down and should have won. Oregon will not score at will, and Ohio State's offense will not score a lot. I can see it being around 24-17 with an Ohio State win.

Bucks won't be able to rely on Tressel-ball to win. They'll have to open things up and not play so conservatively because Oregon's a lot more explosive than any of the offenses they've faced so far.

There is no way Oregon is scoring 30 pts. Oregon gets to see a defense like Boise St's. Ohio st hold teams to approx. 12 pts a game.

Now I think Oregon will score more than 12 but below their scoring avg. Ohio St will apply pressure to Oregon causing problems.

I don't think you can look at the Boise game, because it was so early in the season and obviously Oregon's offense wasn't clicking.

Look at their recent scores and how many they are scoring.

I'm not saying OSU can't slow them down, but I don't think you can refer to the Boise game tape.

I just read through all of these and someone said something about Oregon running for 300 yards. I'd like to make a wager on that.

This team is night and day different at home and on the road.

On the road:
-Loss v Boise then played 4 straight at home.
-'Hung' 24 on UCLA and beat the Bruins 24-10
-Smacked Washington 43-19 but scored on a blocked punt and was setup with 2 UW INTs and fumble.
-Gave up 51 to Stanford and lost.
Beat Arizona 44-41 in a game they should have lost. Went up 14-0 with 10 minutes to go in the 2nd quarter. Then Arizona's vaunted defense (cough) shut the Ducks down for 2 quarters until they scored with 10 minutes left in the 4th. They scored 17 total in the 4th to tie it at 31 then won in double OT.

Totally different team away from the Zoo. Boom, Saine, and TP should all have good days running the ball and I think the Bucks win.

OSU played great for their standards, and Hook 'Em Horns didn't for their standards. And, Buckeyes still lost.

My very early gut feeling says Ducks by 4. I'm thinking 28-24.

Why not? They ran the same plays there just wasn't anywhere to run. If Oregon State makes half the tackles they missed in the backfield last night then all you haters would be telling us how there is no way we can stop 'Quizz Rodgers and the Beavers today.

Sure seems funny that Oregons offense starting clicking in week 2 vs Purdue and forward. Yes, it was not clicking because Boise St was bringing the heat.

Like someone above said. Same thing we heard last year about Texas laying big points on Ohio St. Oregon is going to score well below their avg pts.

Ohio State should be able to control the line of scrimmage, and their outstanding defensive ends need to have huge games to eat up that read option. What about OSU -50? It doesn't matter what the spread is Ohio State is going to win and you can take that to the bank.

The fact that I'm an ever hopeful OSU fan is the main reason but defense gives the Bucks a fighting chance. Your defense is more consistant game in and game out than the offense. My hope is that Pryor continues to develop during the Bowl prep practices and can put up at least 28 points. Oregons defense gives me no reason to think that Ohio State cannot move the ball easily on them. (I've watched them play at least 6 games and other than the Boise State game their defense has been Cincinnati bad.)
