ohio state will be the best defensive team oregon will play this season.

i think they have a good shot, however, it will be interesting to see how well the ohio state offense can progress this next month... they might have to score more than 20 to win.

Buckeyes strength (defense) against Oregon's strength (offense). What a chess match!

Oregon's defense is suspect. There are a lot of holes in the secondary, and their d line is not that big.
Oregon's offense is good and fast, but if OSU can get pressure than that can limit their options.

I can see the Bucks winning by 7-10, if their defensive line steps up and if the offense can exploit the secondary.

OSU is going to have to figure out the zone read for Oregon to win. They run it differently that anyone else and no one has figured it out. Should be an interesting game though.

The ducks become the latest team to trounce the Sucks in a big game....

There may be some holes in the Ducks secondary, too bad Pryor throws like a linebacker.

He can throw like your sister and it wouldn't much matter, they will get 3 interference calls minimum.

Feel free to refer to this post come 8PM on 1/1/10, because it will be correct.

Blount plays a lot, and OSU loses a close one. OSU fans whine that Blount should still be suspended.

I imagine that Oregon fans are pretty confident going into this game, given that Ducks beat the only 2 teams OSU has lost to this year

I absolutely love this match up, definitely the most interesting BCS game match up in my opinion. I think Oregon should be favored by about 4-6 points.

Ohio State should be able to control the line of scrimmage, and their outstanding defensive ends need to have huge games to eat up that read option. I think the Ohio State defensive backs are good enough to play a lot of tight coverage and allow the Buckeyes to put more guys in the box. I just don't see Oregon being able to necessarily stretch the field.

Now, Ohio State's offense is absolutely anemic. Will Ohio State be able to run the ball ad nauseum in this game? I think so. That said, I'll take the Buckeyes in this game, 24-23.

Care to make it interesting? You say it's Ohio State -25, I'll take that bet.

You win, I'll never say anything on an Ohio State thread ever. I win, and you can't post on Notre Dame threads ever.

Deal? Come one, it's Ohio State! Some say it was hand-made by Jesus on the fourth day. :D

OR

Maybe you'll just have to change your signature as "NOTRE DAME > OHIO STATE." I'll do the opposite if you win. That is, if it doesn't cause you to have instantaneous seizures...

Ohio State wins 28-19.

I guarantee an OSU win and I'm saying it right now: Pyror has a BIG game.

Ohio State's D line too much for Oregon to handle, and Tressel gets his head out of his ass and calls some new plays.

JT needs to remove his head partially from his ass and be creative. Play action, designed runs for TP, etc. If they call it right and execute there is no reason OSU shouldn't win this game. But that is a big IF. OSU shouldn't have a problem with the Ducks.

This is what I see:

Oregon's offense is their strength. Their defense is NOT very good--this will be the first time you see Tressel open up the offense for Pryor IMO. He's been holding him back on purpose, it's not like it's the first time he's done it at OSU. I fully expect him to open the offense up for Pryor next year because with more experience he'll trust him more. I think you'll see the first part of that in this game. And defensively we can stop Oregon--they'll score but we'll get stops and likely at least one turnover, we've been GREAT at that. Ohio State will win this game because of defense. I will admit, I'm a bit nervous (was rooting for Oregon State because I think we could have totally shut them down offensively) but I'm still confident in a Buckeye victory. I like OSU in a fairly close game, this is a pretty good matchup.

1. It's the Rose Bowl. OSU's all-time W-L record in the Rose Bowl is 6-7 (I believe) with most of those losses coming since the 1950's. For whatever reason, when the Bucks travel to Hollyweird, they get starstruck.

2. Oregon smashed USC and edged Purdue. The Buckeyes lost to a mediocre Purdue team and got edged at home by USC. This alone makes me nervous.

3. While Pryor vs. Masoli is a wash in my book, Oregon certainly has a much better running game than Ohio State. OSU's defense is better than Oregon's.

Overall I'd have to give Oregon a slight edge in this one.

The Buckeyes unfortunately are about to sink below sea-level in BCS bowls (4-5 all-time) which, ironically will be pretty much the same track record as OSU's "fortunes" in the Rose Bowl.

Prediction:

Oregon 35
Ohio State 28

Oregon sucks on the road. I think OSU will run their own option read to success and will win the game 28-17. Oregon is a turnover prone team playing the best take away defense in the country. That is not good for Oregon. Oregon has a good run defense but no passing defense. I think Tressel will come with something that will exploit their D and will still get his 200 yards on the ground. I think we will not recognize the OSU offense in the rose bowl... they have time to fix their problems. The didn't have a week off since the season started and I think this time off will be significant.

After the USC game, everyone thought USC's defense was amazing. Well guess what, they got exposed by several Pac 10 teams.

The Oregon team was the first few weeks isn't the same team as today. Their offense is clicking on all cylinders and I don't see OSU holding them under 30. The question then becomes, can OSU score 30? Unlikely.

OSU hasn't seen an offense like this all year. Hopefully with the time off, Oregon gets worse and OSU gets better.
