Lost all offensive weapons. Only one playmaker on defense. Plus
both lines will average 5'9'' 200 lbs. Dropping big red is one less
loss. I think they will go 5-5. No playoffs.

Would be nice if they made the playoff's but 4-6 won't get you to the playoff's.

Creek has a little bit more coming back than most people think... The O-line/D-line has always been undersized except for the mid 90's. What most people don't know is that the 2009 Freshman O-line was bigger than the 2009 Varsity O-line. If the Varsity line didn't impress after the first few games, the O-line was going to consist of mostly freshman. Now with all these kids Sophmores and another year of solid weight room activity, there may be a little competition on the line. Our QB spot is solid with Adam Young and a VERY capable back-up in David Kemp. Both will probably see time on the defensive side of the ball as well at DB/S. As far as targets to throw to, Brian Rupert returns as probably the go-to wide out. Mike Furda also returns at the TE position. These two will also see time on defense at the DB and DE spots as we did this past year. Jordan Spence also returns at WR/DB and has committed to working hard this off-season in the weight room to improve strength and speed. Montel McLennand is a 6'0'' 225 TE/DE that will be a Sophmore and should have a positive impact as well as his twin brother who is the same size. The kicking/punting duties will be taken over by Travis Terry who handled a good 80% of the kick-off duties and a few EP's as well last season. The Defense should actually shape up pretty nicely with Niko Otto returning at his ILB spot. Ty Yocum, Tyler Sharp, and Mark Ludewig have all seen time at the LB position and all 4 of them seem to have good chemistry together on the field. One of them may even be moved up to play on the line at DE opposite Furda with McLennand rotating in or moved inside. The secondary seems to be pretty set also. The names Young, Spence, Rupert, Kemp, and Evan Hopkins should be pretty solid in the backfield. Running back seems to be the spot that has the biggest shoes to fill... Well there will be PLENTY of bodies all seeing time at this spot. Yocum, Otto, Ludewig, Hopkins, Sharp, and a few others will be able to fill that gap. They may not have the speed of Doren Thomas, but when you can plug in 5-6 different running backs, all capable of handling the ball it can really surprise a tired defense.
Looking at this year's schedule, we open with Weir. Should be nice to open the season with a win although I would still rather be playing Big Red. Oak Glen and Cleveland John Hay return to the schedule, both teams will be better than last year, but both winnable games. UL should be similar to last year... All throw no run unless it comes by way of Copeland's feet. Another winnable game. Buckeye has lost a TON of talent, although they do return Josten Dear who is very quick. Buckeye also has a new coach as Poblish retires. We beat them last year, we can do it again. St.C. will be tough. They always are. I always refer to them as our kryptonite because no matter what we do, it always seems like they do it just a bit better. They have to come up here this year and that may be the difference... Or perhaps maybe we will actually finish our drives and play better in the first half. This is also a winnable game... A MUST win. Ferry is always tough. Even tougher that we have to go there and play them. The game that I never look forward to... Hopefully this year we give them a run for their money. Harrison is getting annoying. Are they good or are they bad? This year we have to come out on top and do it in a big way. Bellaire will probably once again fight for last place with Edison because of all the turmoil down there. Unfortunate because they have some good athletes, but until they figure out who is who on the coaching side, I don't see much good happening. Edison is looking for a new coach and that could be interesting. Thats been the missing link out there for the past few years. Tough kids, bad coach. The trophy (which should be between IC/BL) will stay in Wintersville.
There is no reason to think that IC will go 7-3 at worst. All the players saw copious amounts of PT. I also believe that the team will be better conditioned, stronger, and have a chip on their shoulder this year barely missing the play-offs and hounded by the nasty flu bug. It really should be a fun year at IC.

The realistic goal of the team has been to win the B8 since the league was formed. By winning the B8, you will get a play-off bid. As much as some people want to throw hatred our way and make remarks about the team, the true supporters know and would tell you that last season really showed signs of life that if built on, could allow Creek to obtain the goal of winning the B8 and even getting the school's first play-off win. I think that the goal pre-season should be to focus on strength, conditioning, and speed. Come time for the start of the season I think the goal should be to win the Buckeye Eight. After 10 games, I think the goal should be to win a play-off game. I won't blow smoke up anyone's rear-end, we are not yet good enough to win a championship, but I do not see a reason why the goals should be set lower because of that reason. l believe that the team has made leaps and bounds from where it was this time last year. Credit the players for not wanting another disappointing season and the coaches busting their rear-ends to make sure that every player came full circle buying into the program. We were extremely close to a play-off bid last year and I think that as the season goes on, the goals should be set higher. I don't think that Connor, his staff, and the players will be satisfied missing out on the play-offs again.

The expectations were not of a playoff team that year following the loses of the entire line that averaged around 300 lbs. The only reason that team made the playoffs that year was because of spirit (5 guys provided that TRUST ME) in the crowd. The team would feed off of it !!! Plus that team had lots of seniors that started/played !!!snyds113 wrote: SOS The year Creek made the playoffs what was the expectations for that team pre-season.It seems like teams have a good year when least expected. This is a real question so please answer.Go in depth please.

Creek players and it's coaching staff should be making small goals. The one game at a time theory is really a fine idea.To win the first game will be a big boost to their program and the spirit of the players.

I am sure they have set small goals... But at the same time there is no reason NOT to set the bar higher for a group of kids and coaches that are determined to turn this thing around... 17 years down, one play off appearance, no wins. This group of kids have more than most give them credit for... They have heart. Over the next few years outside onlookers may notice that heart makes a difference. 2010 will be the year Creek gets back to the post season and hunts down its first ever play off win... Neither the coaches nor players will settle for anything less. Creek Football is back and its gonna be exciting

you did a nice job of outlining the expected roster for the upcoming season sos. Hopefully the numbers will come up some this year. There is a nice freshman class coming next season.
The low numbers last season benefited the freshmen. A lot of them practiced against the varsity and gained valuable experience because of those low numbers. Expect some of them to step in respectably, a couple of them have considerable varsity special teams experience from last season.

Is it written in the OHSAA rules that the team that wins the Buckeye 8 goes to the playoffs? because I'm sure that sooner or later a team can win it and not go to the playoffs.

IMHO 2010 creek will miss playoffs (7-3, 6-4 depending on week 1 Steubenville or Weir) with this schedule. Just not enough points with the weak wins.

I don't care if it is weak. Creek is playing a good schedule for their kids, finally. Not only should they destory on opening day they really have a shot to go 9-1, 10-0 because those schools are not that much better than Creek. I also like the fact that 9 teams on the schedule are teams in the area.

Lol..so now you are trying to talk about their weak schedule. Is that so if indeed Creek does do better than last year...you already have your excuse covered? You can just blame it on their weak schedule? I mean..you wouldn't have to admit you were wrong then right?

But even at 7-3 with the win over Weir the play-offs are pretty much a lock. look at the math again. I am looking forward to a season better than 7-3.d.woods50fan. wrote: IMHO 2010 creek will miss playoffs (7-3, 6-4 depending on week 1 Steubenville or Weir) with this schedule. Steubenville, Marlington Alliance, Salem, Granville, Dover, Harrison Central, Northwest Canal Fulton, Buckeye Local, Sheridan, E.L., and New Lexington IMHO will all be in the playoff Hunt, The wins Creek get will be against bad teams most likely so i cant see them having more points than any of the teams listed above.
