Well, politics will eventually evolve into that (and the few others who are in line with him) once LJ gets tired of babysitting it
Make him a mod there and save the people trying to start a rational discussion their time and energy :p

i'd like to think mt being a moderator would have the same exact outcome as jj trying to charge $12.

i don't mean the mass exodus. i mean the mass gore posting and girls eating each other's poop and various keebler/nate onslaughts.

The only way he ever becomes a mod is if his parents give me an offer I can't refuse to buy the entire website and then they make him moderator. So, mt, if you want to be a mod you better have your parents get out their checkbook.

I like the site quite a bit . . . thanks for the hard work. But, I'll also admit to being someone who just doesn't stop by much anymore.

I'd really suggest tighter moderation . . . but strictly in terms of personal attacks, profanity and obscenity. That stuff does nothing to advance the dialogue and really turns-off older posters, and probably many younger ones as well. It just kind of makes the whole place look juvenile.

Given the opportunity you have this time of year, cleaning the place up may really entice "high school football guy" to be a year-round visitor.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone. I'm going to take some time to review it again this weekend.

In the mean time, I have almost finished the functionality for individual members to choose if they want the swear filter on or not. I should be able to have it up tomorrow. I spent a few hours on it today and it turned out to be relatively easy. In order to have it on by default for new users I'll have to turn the filter on for everyone initially. I'll provide the instructions for those who don't want it on. It will take you 5 seconds to go back to normal. A minor league inconvenience I guess.

There will be a personal attack filter too, if mantooth and myself getting really drunk and moderating the hell out of this place counts as a "filter" :rolleyes:
