Another thing I noticed, is that justincredible, the owner, posts the same things that are being frowned upon by other posters. You know, name calling, cursing, personal attacks, etc.

Just a thought.

True. But my name calling and "personal attacks" are directed towards other members whom I am cordial with and it is not done in spite. I don't troll around threads looking to call people out that I hold a grudge against. I am sure that you'll go find an instance to dispute this so I'll take my lumps when you do.

As for the swearing, it's not necessarily something I'm willing to get rid of. I'd like to allow for individual users to filter out words they don't like reading but I am currently not willing to implement a site-wide swear filter.

An instance? I'm sure I could find more than just one, probably quite a few, and that's not even including myself.

You have fun trying to find your "niche".

I use personal attacks on many of the mods and my fellow Cleveland sports fans....it is all in good fun. I don't see why that should be changed at all. It is pretty obvious when someone is just trolling around opposed to joking.

Ok, but for someone that is just joining, do they know the difference? You do have rules and it gets confusing for some.

I don't like when people throw out curse words left and right but it doesn't mean I'm going to cry about it to a moderater and try and have them banned.

Putting them on the ignore list doesn't help any, it just gives you a chopped up thread that's still not worth reading. I enjoy good natured banter as much as the next guy, but that's not what it is. Also, I have absolutely no problem with the curse words. Do I think they're necessary 90% of the time? No, but it doesn't bother me in the least. I've never reported any member for anything cause I don't take it that seriously. I'm just sayin' it's gonna be hard to grow, when almost every thread turns into a pissing match between a few chatterers.

Yeah...that is a tough one. I can see how people trying out the site could be turned off because they cannot tell.

Moderators? Who are they? It's impossible to tell. Especially with what I explained earlier.

Never noticed the difference. Just figured it was possible with editing. It's still not very clear. Is purple in the moderator position also?

Only the cool people have purple names.

Back on topic, even if new people come on here and can tell the difference between real put-downs and people playing around, sometimes seeing that many "inside" jabs and jokes makes it feel unwelcoming because it comes off as being "cliquey". But, I don't know that there's really a way to avoid that. All boards have that going on.

Do you think it would be a good idea to at least name the moderators? Similar before the changeover to the new site?

Before I was made a vBookie I took advantage of some of the "can't lose" odds that were set on games (you could bet the same on either team to win and still come out ahead).
Then, I bet the field on the British Open and won a ton.

I have actually never bet on one of my own events, so I didn't rig it :p

I've come to the conclusion that most of the posters who came here from the OP were the ones we would all consider the "fun guys". This site allows some of those to expand on their potty mouths and trolling. I can take it, but I can see how it turns people off. Many do not want to make a post because they are afraid of someone like Society, as an example, jumping all over them.

In the navigation under the OC logo, within Quick Links, there is a "View Forum Leaders" link that takes you to the page that ts posted. I can always make that link more prominent.

It doesn't take much to understand when someone is joking with an insult......that's nothing at all. There is way too much "tough guy, how many negative adjetives can I include in my jab" moments
