Not shocking at all. As soon as he lost his fight to keep Mr Potato Head, you knew the writing was kinda on the wall.

How do you re-sign a guy when there is no head coach, and the front office is shaken up. Either there is a plan already in place or Lebron is history.

Apparently there was a quick mention that it may happen on ESPN earlier. My brother saw it there and was the one that tipped me off about it.

EDIT: ESPN confirms it as soon as I hit "post" on this one.

Hmm interesting. I didn't think Ferry did a terrible job... he did the best he could in his situation, the players and coaches just couldn't get it done.

CLEVELAND -- Danny Ferry resigned abruptly Friday as general manager of the Cleveland Cavaliers after five seasons.

Ferry's departure occurred two weeks after the club fired coach Mike Brown following the team's second-round loss to the Boston Celtics in the NBA playoffs. It comes as the team is making plans to try to re-sign two-time MVP LeBron James, who will be a free agent on July 1.

Ferry was in the final month of his contract.

The team said Friday assistant GM Chris Grant will take over for Ferry.

Chris Grant is supposed to be one of the "up and comers" on the GM front plus Lebron supposedly likes him. So much so that the teams targeting LBJ were looking to bring Grant on as their GM to lure him from what I've heard.

I said that Ferry should have gone before Brown, so I'm not incredible surprised.

He was partially to blame, I can go along with the "players and coaches didn't get it done" thing for the most part. But, Ferry pulled in players that forced Mike Brown to try to fit a square peg in a round hole. He went out and got him high profile starters (Mo, Jamison) who didn't fit Brown's system. I thought Ferry needed to go for that reason and I thought Brown needed to go for not being able to adjust to the names on his roster.

Those are pretty big flaws, your GM and coach HAVE to be on the same page and your coach has to have some level of flexibility.

I agree the talent brought in didn't fit the system. But Ferry didn't bring them in, Lebron did.

What?????????? Square pegs in round holes????? They had the best record the last 2 years and Brown was COY last year. The PLAYERS didn't get it done in the PLAYOFFS because they choked and were more worried about dancing and doing the goosie than playing in the regular season to prepare for Playoff basketball. They are the ones to hold accountable.

Ferry had to pull the trigger but Lebron gave the "thumbs up" to Choke Williams, Jamison & Shaq.
