I sure did.. I wanna know where these places are in Canton that are way nicer than Alliance? Maybe 2 square miles of downtown Canton are, but as a whole I'd take Alliance anyday.

Neither Alliance nor Canton even deserves to be in this discussion anyways.

SQ made a point earlier that is spot on. East Liverpool (and all of these other Rt 7 towns) wishes they were Toledo. Yeah Canton, Lima, Youngstown, parts of Toledo, etc. suck, but they have nothing on these Rt 7 River towns. Sure Canton might have a lot of Ghetto, but read what CenterBHSfan wrote, the whole town is ghetto. In cities like Canton, Toledo, etc. you at least have some nice suburbs in the surrounding areas with thriving businesses, modern chain restaurants, shopping centers, etc. Along Rt. 7, that does not exist. The only decent town is St. Clairsville, but other than that you have to drive to West Virginia to eat at an Olive Garden or to go to some nice shopping centers. Think about that---West Virignia is nicer than those towns.

To use a Columbus analogy to help people recognize the plight in these towns, imagine Franklinton and the Hilltop area (including the residents who live there)---- that's the whole town in these communities (without the advantage of driving down the road to leave said community).

Canton at least has:

1. HOF
2. A few nice housing communities
3. Some nice schools
4. Good shopping/eats
5. A nice college area
6. A nice downtown area
7. Some thriving business

Alliance has Mount Union, that's it. Everything outside of Mount in Alliance is the equivalent of Sebring--it's nasty. Alliance is in TERRIBLE shape. Not like these river towns but it's pretty damn bad.

I guess I was looking at it from a crime and safety stand point.. Someone might try to sell me crack in Alliance, but theres not too many areas of Canton anymore to hang out where I don't have to worry about getting a gun pulled on me and robbed.

It isn't nice, but it's not the worst. People always exaggerate about where they're from.

That's just Steubenville West. Head on into Jewett and Scio too. Coal industry has wrecked them from days gone by. Scio Pottery bldg needs torn down......don't know why it's still standing??

What's nasty about Sebring? It's just a small town, nothing more. It'll turn to shit when the riff raff from Salem starts moving in.

LOLOLOL!! Are you serious?

There is a reason that the West Branch school district surrounds Sebring and doesn't include it...Sebring is garbage.

Steubenville has some nice neighborhoods....if you are just going down Rt 7 you only see a small portion of the city...it would be like judging Cincinnati on the I75 drive. We also have a very nice university, and a mall retail area.

Why is Sebring garbage? There's nothing really going on there. It's kinda like a Mayberry. Doesn't have crime for the most part. Seems to me like it's a lot of older people. Granted, it does seem like there's a lot of younger single mothers but I'd REALLY like to know why it's "garbage."

West Branch surrounds Sebring because Sebring doesn't WANT to become a part of West Branch. I believe that WB has tried to consolidate with Sebring and Sebring chose NOT to.

A mall that just a few years ago you could actually surf on the floors they were sinking so bad. Crap hole of a mall. Last time I was there, I think it had more closed up storfronts than actual open ones.

The only thing keeping that mall going is the Walmart sitting right beside it.

I really think Liverpool is far worse than Steubenville. The Ville is still hanging onto a few things that those other river towns don't have...it's not quite as bad yet.

But really, I feel like it's hard to have an opinion if you haven't been to EL but I can see why a lot of people haven't--because there is no reason to go there.

So as usual, just like on Cavs threads, no FACTS (high crime, high drug rate, etc), just your high and mighty opinion.

I'll give you that it's "boring", "lame" and a "do nothing" town, because there's nothing going on for entertainment, but trash & garbage? No.

Oh, my bad. It's S. 6th St, only only one block from glorious and bountiful S 7th St. :P

Bigoted?? Here we go......get a clue.
And what part of bigoted don't you understand/ Its nearly impossible for some not to show their true colors.
