A few months ago my 2nd Xbox died. I sent it in and they supposedly sent me a new one. Well... my roommate had a 360 so we just played his down at school and once my new system arrived I just had my parents put it in my room. Today I finally got it out of the box and it doesn't even turn on. The warranty ran out 9 days ago and Microsoft is not giving me any breaks

So... I am selling all my games, equipment, etc and buying a PS3. I have been looking for good deals and I found one on Walmart. I was wondering if anybody else has seen a good one lately?

The one I found is this: 120 gig console, control+extra control, and 2 games (I want a baseball game and you can get 2k or the Show) for $399.

That seems like a great deal. For $299 you get the console only.

Thanks, Sonystyle only had the consoles (same price) and Amazon didn't have any attractive bundles

What type of 360 do you have? HD size? I'd be interested in buying it.

Whatever the regular "stock" size hard drive is, is what I got. The system is 'new' they just sent it to me a few months ago. But the hard drive is from my first system that I got 2-3 years ago. It still has Xbox Live on it and it should last 8-9 more months.

Kind of hard to do when you are down at college and the Xbox gets shipped to your home.

Like I said, I'm not getting all butthurt with Microsoft. I know the rules, I know that it is out of warranty. You'd think that if Xbox was a company worried about the customer they would have made an exception, but they didn't/won't. So, no hard feelings, I'll buy PS3 instead of paying $99 to have it fixed

Have you looked to see if you could repair yourself? It's already broke, you can't hurt it anymore. Is it just not powering up?

Also, make sure it isn't the power supply.

I can't repair it on my own. I don't know the first thing about that sort of stuff. I am just trying to cut my losses and move on.

Here's what happened: They sent me a "new" Xbox because my old one was dead (E74 error). It sat in my room in the box for a few months and yesterday I finally got it out of the box. I hook it up, put all the wires where they go and it doesn't even power up. The power brick has an orange light on FWIW.

I did that too. The TV works fine where it is plugged in. I had it plugged into a power strip, so I thought that might be the problem, so I plugged it directly into the wall. Still doesn't work.

I'm saying to use another power brick, the one you said that was lit up. It may be lit up but could possibly be bad. See if a friend and come over and use their plug.

ahh, yeah that might be something that would work, but I don't have any friends around that own a 360. Everybody has a ps3

haha I actually had a buddy who did something similar to that. He bought the Xbox that comes with the hard drive, took it home, got the hard drive out, took it back, got his money back, and then went in another store and bought the core system

XBox isn't a company, it's a product. It's not worried about anything.

yes, but the serial number on the box will not match the serial number on the unit. Most stores check this now.

Good call. You got the idea though. If I ever write a novel I'll be sure to let you know. I think I'd need somebody to be a good editor who examines every word very closely. Editors also do not typically contribute anything to the original idea either. So you would be a good candidate twice over.
