I don't see how AT&T can stay in business(I know they will survive) when the Iphone comes to verizon. Their pricing isn't any better and the Iphone was the only reason people were there anyhow.

From the article:
Still, as Engadget notes, it is possible that the terms of the contract have changed since 2007 or 2008.

"Contracts can be canceled, amended, and breached in many ways, and AT&T's spotty recent service history plus the explosion of the iPhone and the mobile market in general have given Apple any number of reasons to revisit the deal," Engadget says.

If the iPhone doesn't switch to Verizon in 2010 I'll likely be switching to the Incredible.

The original article makes little sense.
The rumor mill is churning about a company called Landor Associates “working on an advertising campaign” for Verizon for the upcoming iPhone (you know, the one that the police knocked down Jason Chen’s door down to get generally more information about?).
The one that police questioned Jason Chen about was a GSM Iphone. Definitely wouldn't work on Verizon. Makes me believe that the author has no idea what he's talking about and that this article is a load of shit.

If the iPhone is coming to Verizon this fall I'll be thrilled because I'm due for an upgrade in August. If Apple keeps their exclusivity with AT&T, I'll never understand it. The iPhone is the most popular phone in America, but it is running on a much smaller and inferior network. There is a boat load of money to be made by Apple if they add the iPhone to Verizon.

Also, even if Apple and AT&T have an exclusive contract until 2012, that only prevents the iPhone from moving to Verizon, it does not prevent Apple from releasing an iPhone-like device on Verizon.

I'll do the math and determine if switching back to verizon is worth the cancellation fee from ATT.

I'm not going to lie, the only reason I'm with ATT is the Iphone. The costs are ridiculous though.

either way I'll probably wait until the next gen Iphone comes around before I do anything.

I have been saving my upgrade for over a year now. I have a Blackberry Curve and love it. But I want to jump to a touch screen. Looked at the HTC Droids, the boyfriend just got one and loves it. But I am still holding out hoping the I-phone comes to Verizon. I hate everything Apple, but I have to admit the I-phones are amazing. If they don't come to Verizon I probably will upgrade to the HTC Droid.

Given the fact that Verizon has more than twice as many subscribers as Sprint and the fact that Sprint has fewer subscribers than AT&T, I'm guessing it isn't going to be on Sprint.

They have just over 48 million subscribers. Verizon is just shy of 100 million.

Most of sprint subscribers are businesses which carried over from nextel, which i loved, but sprint sucks.

Is this just a verizon thing, because i'd love to get t-mobile, and i'd love to have one.

Also, i am an admitted klutz. How durable is the Iphone?

I've got the $50 "otter box" case. This is my 17th phone(!!), and it looks brand new. Keep in mind I'm in the army, and I've had it since October. It's also my 3rd iPhone (2G, 3G, now I have the 3G S)
