Crazy to give up a RH layup and 3 guys locked to their player with time running to nothing

Back on 2/9 Kansas beat #1 Arizona without Peterson. I decided to bet a few dollars on Kansas national championship odds at the time. They were like +800.
After that bet they went 5-6 including losing in the second round.

From about 2002-2024 I think I picked Kansas to win every single year….Ive always hated them, especially with Self

No, its already hit lol. Iowa plays Nebraska, and they are 16-3 right now. Going to probably get 20+. But 17 is already guaranteed.

Kansas... I dont know what they were doing with those fouls. The strategy was fine, but wasting them THAT early made no sense. St. John's was always holding for final shot. Let the clock get to 6-7 seconds before fouling.

Agreed the first two could stretched out atleast another second or two. Then they woulda had basically a catch dribble and shoot instead of being able to drive it to the rim.
Also teams are killing me by jumping the passing lanes on these plays. Keep your man in front of you and make them take a contested shot.

Duke looked great until the final 2:00 then were dumb. UConn can’t get a shot off inside of 8 passes
Expect a comeback

Scheyer might need to go. Back to back choke jobs

He had a top ten all time team last year and blew it and now this he’s no coach k

I mean they had the ball with 6 seconds left and Boozer could’ve done 4 different things and Duke would’ve won.
And then in the mess at the end the Duke defender just stood there with 2 seconds left as UConn guard shot a 30 footer….but never raised his hand up to contest or anything. Free shot. How do you not get your arm up at least?
Scheyer could’ve called a timeout but it would’ve been dumb based on what was happening….2 quick passes to use time, then Boozer collapsed with his decision. Could’ve pass faked, could’ve stayed there in triple threat for a timeout 1 second later, could’ve dribbled back the wrong direction to take off more time….hell could’ve launched ball 60 feet into the air towards his basket
I have no blame for Scheyer

Now analyze the blown 19 point lead from today. Or the blown 14 point lead from last year. Still no blame?

No, not today.

He deserves a ton of blame for blowing a 19 point lead. Come on.
But firing him would be suicidal. Duke is duke...but so was Indiana at a time. So was UCLA. Do not run off coaches who are getting recruits and earning 1 seeds lol. Even Kentucky and Carolina, who havent hit the bottom like Indiana or UCLA, have had spurts of really underwhelming stretches when the coach wasnt right.

How many years do you give him to figure it out. I’m guessing Duke doesn’t want sweet 16s they want final fours and titles.
If he’s not getting it done with these rosters in a weak ACC what’s going to happen when he missed on a couple recruits.

They might have gotten destroyed by Michigan next weekend anyways. They look legit.

Michigan/Zona is the title game
Senior Member
I understand it’s fun to watch Duke lose but now we get another weekend of Dan Hurley which also sucks

Michigan and Arizona both +175 to win the title. Illinois +400 and UConn +550
Administrator
I win $115 if Zona wins it all or if Illinois beats Zona in championship game
So bet the other way I guess. UConn not exactly an unfortunate team

Well, he has an E8, FF, and an E8. He has advanced past the S16 every year hes been coaching outside of his first year. He has 2 total loses in the ACC the last 2 years. And a 97-16 overall record the last 3 years. If you want to fire that, be my guest. You wont get a better stretch unless someone were to win a title. Like, this is the type of stretch K would be putting together -- with a title sprinkled in once a decade. Give Scheyer a decade and if he hasn't won a title and you want to move on, go for it.
