7-0 after 3. Now in a rain delay.

posted by Gardens35Seems that for right now the only pitch that Bradley can hit is the fastball right down the middle.
Prior to last night, he went 5 for his previous 15. With 3 2Bs and a HR.
Hes struggling, but you can see the power potential. Unfortunately I think he needs to learn to hit the offspeed pitches in the bigs. Don’t see how mashing AAA pitching more will help. He won’t see enough, and they won’t be as high of quality.

Yes, this is what I was thinking. Sending him down.....he’s not going to see the off speed pitches to work on.
We need that tarp pulled off for one more inning!

In 9 starts.
Truly an insane amount.
Just heard it’s the most in the majors.
Game has been resumed.
8-0 T8
Plesac gave up no hits in his 3 inning stint.
Clippard, Goody and Olson doing the job.

period...I tweeted this at Andre Knot the other night and had quite a few people agree with me that he needs to learn this in AAA, as he'll just get frustrated up here--he needs to crawl before he walks, so to speak

Apparently Salazar looked decent last night, going 3 innings, and Kluber starts his first bullpen sessions tonight.

I think that he can also use work defensively at AAA. There have been cases where he struggles to make what should be routine plays for a major league first baseman (fielding grounders, digging out low throws to first, footwork, making correct decisions on cutting off throws from the outfield, etc. ) I get that we are counting on him mostly for his bat, but I'd hate to have a guy that young who can only play DH.

No doubt, but if he is going to make an impact this season it’s at DH. Because Santana is too good at first. Frankly, unless he moves to OF, he’s looking at DH until Santana is gone.
Also, after that Cabrera fly to CF...I’m ready to say Mercado isn’t a great fielder right now.

Twins lost this afternoon. We have a chance to cut their lead down to 4 games.
Mercado misplayed another fly ball tonight. We got out of the inning without any damage, but I'd much rather see him at a corner position. Play Allen in center.

Good offense in the 3rd. Oscar with the 2 rbi. Naquin hitting well too. Stupid ass base running by Lindor when he’s on 3rd. Come on

Seems like right now the Twins can't buy a win....unless they're playing the Tribe.

Couple of thoughts so far:
Yes, don’t put Mercado in center anymore.
Listening to Hammy in the first inning, he explains why M. Cabrera is hitting 3rd instead of clean up. Because if he was hitting cleanup and they go 1-2-3 in the first (which they have done a lot), Gardenhire doesn’t want him batting lead off in the second. Interesting......,never thought of it that way.
So Hammy explains why Lindor is DH tonight. It’s because he’s tired from all the All Star activity he participated in so he gets the night off in the field. And I’m thinking....tired?....tired? Tired is getting up everyday to go work a construction job or any job for that matter. Puh......lease.

After being down 11+ games to the Twins not too long ago, it's very possible that the Tribe could be in 1st place by as early as next week. I'm not banking on it but, by looking at the schedules, the Tribe has KC coming up and the Twins have Oakland (4) and the Yankees (3) over their next 7 games.
The Tribe is playing out of it's mind right now. If they do plan on winning the division, they are going to need to pass the Twins and get a buffer (lead) because looking at the Twins later schedule, it's pretty easy with a slew of KC/ChiSox/Detroit all bunched together to close out the year.

I would agree with that, and looking at the Indians August schedule, it is brutal. My guess is by mid-August the Indians will either be in contention for the division, or done.

What part was that? My point was that AAA is the place to 'learn', and the bigs are a place to hone and get better. He said that he "doesn't see how mashing AAA pitching more will help. He won’t see enough, and they won’t be as high of quality", but IMO, Bradley needs to learn to hit off-speed pitches first, regardless of the quality. Tito did the right thing in bringing him up and giving him a taste of the big leagues, and now Bradley knows not only what it takes to get there, but what it takes to stay there.

I agree, and I also don't want a DH that can't hit a ML off-speed pitch (yet)

And I think the division is their path to the playoffs. Don't think they will get in as a WC.

As Perez comes in, Hammy says he has been “so good again this year”. Meanwhile, I’m sitting here thinking Perez has let every inherited runner score all year. His ERA is good, but I swear he doesn’t strand anyone
