posted by Ironman92I have noticed a recent change by officials in NCAA and NFL, as well as some high school, that refs have a high propensity to spot the ball on even yard lines. Also the first play OSU had from the 4 yd line after the IU muffed snap by the punter. Judsen got the ball nearly to the 3 yd line and they spotted the ball back right at the 4, then Henderson ran it in for the TD on the next play. It really hurts the ball control team who gets 3 3.7 yd runs, or passes for 12 yds, but they then have to convert 4th and 1.Chip Kelly isn’t doing well.
On 3rd down they ran it to the 1 1/2 at worst but hall was spotted on the 2?
They are looking at 4th down on replay but 3rd down spot was the killer.
IU Coach calling the timeout with 8 seconds to regather and halt momentum and then quarter ended…again, Day getting out coached in important moments.
1st possession wasted
2nd possession seemed very productive but zero points.
2 wasted possessions in a game where you might only get 10-11 possessions….might be the middle of the 3rd qtr before they get their 5th po

It shouldn’t happen in those situations. On a play that gets a first down it matters a bit less but just spot the damn ball

This remark implies that Day could've done something different there. What the hell is he supposed to do to counter an opposing team calling a timeout?
I get calling out Day for bad decisions, there was no decision to be made there.

Will IU come out with any ability to score and will OSU squander their 1st possession to keep this tighter than it should be?

Well…we’ll have to wait on the 1st possession lol
That looked like 4 and 5 star guys vs 2 and 3 star guys
That was fun. Good for those loyal fans that shell out insane money 7-8x a year

What a smart, patient, under control 79 yd punt return by Downs! Ball came down quite a bit short of him, and was bouncing. He was only going to touch it if it took a nice easy hop, which it did and made a masterful controlled runback.

And no one made any unnecessary blocks that MIGHT get called

The ref that is spotting each play….needs fired
How many times can they obviously short change OSU a yard?

IU is looking at dropping from the playoff picture if they don’t slow down this trend. They are fortunate it’s only 28-7

I've been upset at poor ball spotting for 60 years My dad pointed it out to me then watching Browns games on Sundays, how the refs nearly always added a half yard to the team they favored and took a half yard away from the other team. Then it didn't have anything to do with getting it on the even yard line. I think now a big part is to have the line to gain for a 1st down on an even yard line for replay purposes if it ends up close for the next first down. But after that, spot it where it should be.

Sports are games of inches…I expect the spots to be within inches on most every play

Yes, I have been rooting for a team from an I-state to make the 12 team play-off, and Indiana is my #1 candidate!

3 plays decided that game. I thought Indiana was up for it defensively but not offensively. The “flase start” was a huge momentum swing. Indiana punt unit was ass.
Overall, OSU is better, but I think Indiana shows on D that they could hang.

I think they drop to #12 and then rooting for Miami to beat SMU in ACC Championship and maybe Clemson beating South Carolina ….and probably another thing or two

Why isn’t more of this stuff reviewable.
Theres a group of officials and/or referees tucked away somewhere watching this stuff and can help to make the right call. But instead, it’s not reviewable…
