Just bought into a barrel pick from New Riff in a bourbon group I'm in. Looking forward to getting that in late March.

Anyone on here live near any of these stores? The State of Ohio (OHLQ) is doing a 1792 Full Proof Barrel pick release next Friday at 9am and each of these stores is getting 144 bottles.

I've yet to try anything from 1792, but I've heard good things from my brother-in-law. If I could snag a bottle of this for $50-60 I definitely would.

Scored a bottle of Buffalo Trace on Thursday. Also picked up a Basil Hayden Dark Rye. It was the last bottle they had.

Been laying off the Woodford the past couple of weeks at cigar nights at Jungle Jim's. Instead I've been drinking Angels Envy Rye.I really like this one.

There is another bottle lottery coming this month. But be ready to break your piggybank. The cost per bottle is $2000 for one and $2500 for the other. (Plus tax)

I think I will stay out of this one. Because this would be the one I would win, and I don't want to burn that amount of money on a bottle. I am assuming I could sell it for a profit, but not gonna risk it.

Was at a conference this week with about 5 or 6 coworkers from all over the globe (US, Mexico, Europe).

We were out drinking and talked them into trying Macallan since they liked Whiskey.

The bar had Macallan 12 and 17. The 17 was $45 per shot, I knew it was more rare than even an 18 or 21 but good lord $45 a shot? We went with the 12 which was $12 (more normal).

I have had Macallan's 12, 18, and 21 but never the 17 so I wanted to try it, but couldn't imagine writing up an expense report with a $45 shot on it (times 6).

Good stuff. But honestly best if mixed with a bit of water or in ice you let melt a bit.

There was over 1100 people there for the Weller C.Y.P.B. raffle for only 54 bottles. I didn't win, but was only one number off from winning a bottle. I showed the guy that was one number more than me as he walked by. He said "that sucks"...lol

I did win a box of Cigars that night though.

Got these decanters from my grandma this weekend. The big boy on the left still had some in it (mostly full), though the topped had broken off. Luckily the cork remained sealed. I was able to get what was left out (filled most of an empty Eagle Rare bottle), and it's quite delicious.

Ezra Brooks 12 year. It would've been distilled and barreled in the late 50s.

Picked up a bottle of Eight & Sand bourbon today. I've never had it, but I've heard good things from my brother-in-law. Anyone else had it? It's MGP juice out of Lawrenceburg, IN.

I went to the Red Eagle Distillery east of Cleveland last week.

I love that place. They have a really good bourbon, rye, brandy, and a maple drink. They only do half bottles.  I got 4 bottles of the bourbon, 2 of the rye, and 1 of the maple.

Cracked open the Eight & Sand tonight. Nice bourbon. For a $30 bottle it's a nice value.

I'm gonna have to try that.  $30 is not bad at all for a decent bourbon.

Not exactly sure the difference between Bourbon and Whiskey but i got roped into doing a Bourbon exchange for xmas (50$) bottle.  I have been looking around for some good bourbons that may be less popular or hard to find.  While at the counter at GE liquor store they had some bottles marked for sale and i asked about them. The clerk said actually one of the bottles was really good but it was only 23$ so i cant really use it for my exchange, but i also have been thinking of getting my liquor collection back going at our new house since i got rid of everything before the move. So here is my first bottle.  Every collection starts with the first Bottle!

All bourbon is whiskey but not all whiskey is bourbon.

Weller Special Reserve is a decent pour at $23.

As for a $50 bottle, Weller Antique just went up in price to $50 if you can find it. It looks just like that one but with a red label.

I love Russell’s Reserve store picks, but they usually run just outside your price range ($65).

Weller is a good pick.

Difference between Whiskey and a Bourbon is easy to remember. Bourbon is one type of Whiskey. Scotches, Ryes, and Bourbons are under the umbrella of a whiskey. A bourbon is just a whiskey that is over 50% corn and aged in new oak charred American barrels.

I've been enjoying some Eagle Rare and a Frederick, MD bourbon from McClintock lately.
