I'm a current college student from Kentucky working on a research piece about the 2012 case of Steubenville, Ohio. Since it's been 14 years since the case, there is only surface level articles. And a lot of misinformation guided from the whirlwind of social media attention at the time. Does anyone remember this case that could give me some insight? I want to give the benefit of the doubt to the town that was blasted on the media, but also by paying respect and doing justice to the poor victim of this situation. The media storm seems crazy for the time, and the way the town dealt with that. But I dont want to provide misinformation.

Ive watched it. From doing more research, It seems like there is so much more information about what went down. But I'm also running into a lot of misinformation.

It was a case involving the Big Red Football Team. I don't want to use the official wording, I don't want to cause offensive.

The doc was pretty damn accurate from what I understand.
The cover up was real.

That's what Ive been exploring. I read an article done in 2014 after the case where a journalist went around the town. No one wanted to talk about it. Everyone still victim blames and tries to protect the school. There was even an interview with some of the parents involved where they completely blamed the media. I understand the reserve in a way considering how popular the town got in the media, but it is really strange how closed off everyone is
