Not if they are in the process of getting their citizenship.....or if they have children that will be left behind that will need care.

If they are violent gangs, all for it. But, not just rounding up illegals just because they are illegal.

You mean in the process of asylum, work permit, SS number, identification, etc.

Actual citizenship is a pipe dream for 99% of these people. Residence/green card is more realistic, but that also rather far off and takes forever.

In general, the amount of uneducated comments I see thrown around regarding "illegals" without actually knowing wtf is going on is astounding.

Apparently, the goal of deporting all illegal immigrants has majority of support. For now. It will be interesting to see how this plays out as time marches on.

My family obtained citizenship the old fashioned way. They married my cousins. Didn't take long to get their citizenship. This was decades ago, so I don't know how easy that is to do currently.

It's quite a while now. 2 years after marriage you can apply for green card. After 5 years of holding green card you can apply for citizenship. Then you take the test, then ceremony, THEN you finally apply for a US passport. The final step takes about a year. Green card is fine though, you can just keep renewing. They last for 5 or 10 years.

My GF has been in the US for ~11 years and she just passed her test last week. Huge deal and a long time coming. She's not the norm though, she came via work visa.

Like I said, this is unrealistic for most. Asylum and work permit is sufficient and then you're basically in limbo until your case gets reviewed which is also a crazy long process. I know some who have been here for 7-8 years and still waiting for asylum review.

Put another way, more than half the population has no idea what a cost/benefit analysis is.

Yeah, back in the day it took less than a year for everything to be done.

Now I'm interested in knowing what has changed in procedure from them to now. It can't all be put on lack of judges/officials.

You ever notice when trump says something that is dumb or not true he switches to that weird voice like he’s a preacher or something? Has he not heard of fire? This is another one of those things that probably sounds really smart to dumb people.

Lol, yeah, fire can’t destroy coal, not even a bomb….good lord Trump, just stop while you’re ahead

Oh lord you really have no idea how any of it works.

It takes years!

The entire process is long and needs completely overhauled.

No, they can go too.

So the shop owner that has been here 20 years should be deported right?

Or they’re fed up with liberal policies doing less than the bare minimum to take care of the actual criminals. So they’ve thrown their hands up and said fuck it. Deport the actual criminals, secure the border, and that number would be far lower.

The same thing happened with J6. The left went way too hard at it, unjustly, so no one gave a shit when Trump pardoned them all regardless if some deserved to be charged.

Hey dumbass,

I said back in the day. And it took less than a year. Why would you go off the rails over that? 😂

Let's all just take a moment to fully appreciate just how much Dems want a 2nd class caste here in America.

Thoughts on the execution branch expanding their power with firing of IGs and the new OMB memo today?

Seems like a obvious disregard of separation of powers.

Aren’t inspector generals fired appointed by the President? And didn’t he even appoint some of them that were fired ? I don’t see the issue other than the 30 day notification rule he violated. The IG’s are for executive branch agencies and presidents are allowed to remove, so not sure of the separation of powers issue.

Pausing federal aid approved by Congress probably not allowed.

It's not really a priority of mine to be too concerned about it. I'd much rather he fired all of DHS, including Kristie Noem. And then start working on disintegrating the CIA.

Yeah, but firing so many is very odd given they could be used to assist the administration.

The OMB memo is a mess, and obvious over reach.

Looks like federal court is putting a hold on the freeze lol.

Oh, I'll also add looking online at the memo, 2 of the authors of the OMB memo were directly involved in Project 2025.

As I said, those people would find their way into the administration.
