Was there any particular reason the B1G is having the tournament a week early this year?

Edit: nevermind. They decided they would rather play at MSG a week early rather than having the tournament at the same time as the other big boy leagues.

Well the league is pretty much a mid-major this year...so it fits.

2-4 teams that can beat anyone, the rest is pure trash. That’s basically a mid major yes.

Also, 2-4 teams who can be beat by anyone.

While I agree that this year's B1G is a glorified mid-major, that statement describes virtually every team in college basketball this year.

Can't remember what game I was watching, but it was two weeks ago I think and the announcers were saying that more top-10 teams have lost to unranked opponents this season than any in NCAA history. And it was 42-35, so it wasn't really even that close.

Which means it'll be way disappointing when the tournament happens and the higher seeds win every damn game.

Was just about to post that same thought.

Watch, in the tournament it will be soooo chalky.

It was more MSG isn’t available next week, due to Big East. So they moved it up. It also resulted in those awful Friday games and insanely condensed schedule. It’s awful. Thankfully it won’t ever happen again.

Exactly---some say parity, I say mediocrity...the talent pool just isn't as deep as in recent years, therefore the 'blueblood' teams just aren't as dominant.

Maryland loses to 14 win Wisconsin, effectively ending their NCAA hopes.

On the topic of weaker class, I think its more so that top freshman picked shitty teams. I know Porter has been hurt, but it's this AAU mentality picking Missouri over a Kentucky which is hurting college basketball. Sexton is a monster and Alabama probably won't go higher than an 8 seed, Trae Young is on a terribly coached team who might be as low as an 11, Bamba isn't near the impact Ayton is simply because of the schools they picked. Look at Fultz last year, dude was the consensus #1 but played for a team so bad it really did not matter.

I think this is what affects the game more than anything, top players knowing they'll be a lottery pick so they go to an average team because they know a coach, play 30 games and bounce. It's really became a lot like college hockey, half your top teams are loaded with young stars, and half are loaded with well developed upperclassmen, but nobody really is dominant anymore

Ha sorry I forgot college hockey isn't big to most.  Just used to be blue blood dominated with the occasional smaller school rising up, now you've got schools like Cornell and Minnesota State in the Top 5. For example the CCHA used to have Michigan, Michigan State and Notre Dame as your consistent powers with Miami, Ohio State, Western Michigan and Ferris State having some damn good teams as well.  Now with how the NHL is so damn speed based anymore, guys are leaving college after a year or two instead of taking a development method similar to college football as they had for decades as you just had to have that big body to compete at that level with how heavy the hockey used to be. It's totally thrown things off, much like college basketball with schools like Virginia, Xavier and Villanova who aim for the "4 year player" having a leg up on everyone else

When you lose to PSU three times in a season you shouldn't be allowed in the tourney.  Throw these scrubs in the NIT.

Was PSU already in or even a bubble team? If the lose this game to OSU would they have made it? Those 3 wins over OSU take them from NIT to and 8/9 seed?
