Damn..........

Boston’s hitting line up is formidable, yet they are out of it as far as post season.

They have 3 guys hitting for a higher average than our best (Lindor), and none of those 3 is the reigning MVP. I was utterly stunned when I saw all the individual numbers their first time through the order Monday. Just assumed lots of down years.

I like Santana leading off, and Ramirez hitting 3rd. I’m feeling a walkoff for José.

Yeah, I don't think you have to worry about them making the WS.

Why? It’s costing them (potential) wins.

Bieber getting roughed up early but still no score. Boston wasted their starter for today last night, so we gotta take advantage of this guy pitching.

Which we aren’t.

Down 2-0 on two solo shots in the 3rd.

He was only going to be a bullpen starter. But of course, we don’t touch the awful guy they throw out there and squander the chance when we get it.

I hate playing Boston more than anyone. For some reason we can never keep them off the scoreboard. Only team in majors it seems that always roughs us up every game.

Ladies and Gentlemen, that latest dose of useless and uninteresting baseball filler was brought to you by Matt and Rick. Now let's pause for a word from NOKO.

No Puig sucked this series, but there were still some awful ABs against bad pitchers.

And I swear vs Boston some of our guys overthink pitching. Or maybe it’s Plawecki vs Berto, but 7 straight sliders to Xander?? A fastball top of zone to Betts up 1-2 in count? Woof.

being the stat geek you are, please show me what games we (potentially) lost due to Tito bunting in certain situations

I may be wrong, but don't they lead the AL while averaging some crazy number like 8.1 runs per game? If they had pitching, they'd be right up there with the NYY and Astros--and speaking of the Yankees, a split over the next 4 days would be wonderful!

I’m not about to go through the entire year. And obviously the bunt or no bunt only puts you in a certain situation, so a win or loss following can’t be a given. But I’m saying where we bunted and it didn’t work out as a potential win because we lost an out and lowered the run scored expectations of a given inning.

In the last 3 weeks, we’ve had 2. Vs Boston 2 days ago with Freeman bunting, and Santana thrown out at second. And vs Texas when we gave up an out to advance Jose and Kipnis grounder out.

And I forget when but believe it was vs a great team when our pitching was awful and our offense was awful, where we sacrificed early and it worked. Problem is, it works for the expected 1 run which tied the game in like the 4th. We had a single and a walk, pitcher was struggling and we gave him an out. Then a groundout scored a run, and then a fly out. We lost by like 6...a chance at a big inning would’ve been nice.

I'm far from a stat "geek" but the overall stats do show that bunting isn't a good idea in those situations.
