It appears Tiger is back after winning his 15th today. He's currently 3 behind Jack. How many more Major's does he win before he calls it quits?

Barring anymore health setbacks, I'm going with he gets 19.

I’m guessing 1 more but that was vintage Tiger and those around him falling short

I see him winning 1 more Masters. I don’t think he can win the US Open or PGA anymore. Maybe 1 more British but I doubt it. Augusta suits his eye. He usually plays well there.

He damn near won the PGA last year. But ok.

I went with 2. Just don't see him getting 3 to tie Jack.

Ya you’re right. The way the Opens are set up I don’t see him winning. He could win a PGA.

For everyone who’s all in on him now... Keep in mind he’s a 43 year old with a bad back. It’s not getting better.

The only one I don’t seen him winning is the US Open. But it sets up well this year at Pebble.

I don’t think you’re wrong. I guess I pretty much agree. My biggest knock on him is I don’t see him staying healthy enough.

I will say i haven’t seen him play like this in a long time. I was expecting him to fuck up some drives at the end and he never did. He can’t be wild off the tee anymore and blast it out of the rough and save par. If he can keep the driver straight and avoid injury you never know. It’s impossible to predict health and even with these guys it’s hard to find fairways for a whole weekend. I get it’s Tiger Woods. But I also get all the adversity he’s facing now that he wasn’t 20 years ago. Time is not on his side and winning 4 more majors just seems highly unlikely.

He is still the best iron player in the world. If he can drive it well, his irons give him enough looks he doesn’t need to be a great putter (basically the opposite of someone like Rickie). He will make enough.

I say he ties.

That’s the problem though ... when he was winning majors left and right he WAS the best putter in the world. He doesn’t make them like he used to.

He doesn’t necessarily need to be. Never need to at Augusta. Hell, you can win there and be an absolute shit putter (see: Bubba, Scott, Sergio, etc)

Sure... but to win 4 more majors he’s going to need to be a great putter. I think I remember seeing a stat in 3 years (back when he won 4 majors in a row) he only missed 3 putts 3ft and in. Made like 1500 putts in that frame. That’s absolutely insane.

Right. My point is more that if he drives it well, he will have 10 good looks at birdie a day. He’s gonna make some of those even if he is putting poorly. It’s kind of a flip from his heyday.

His irons, amazingly, are better than before. Same with short game around the green. The putter has been worse, and his off the tee is, statistically worse. But, a lot of that has to do with everyone else being able to bomb it as well. He may actually be hitting more fairways...or close to the same...as his peak.

His biggest issue will be his age. It will catch up to him. He is playing better than maybe any 43 year old before, and no reason he won’t be the best at XX age, as well. But at some point he simply won’t be able to get it done over 4 rounds on grinding courses.

If I had to put a timeline on it, I’d say he has another 10 chances at Augusta. Another 2-3 at US Open. 4-5 at PGA and 12 at The Open.

He won’t contend in all those years, but I think he can contend in any of them.

I think it’s safe to say this... we all took for granted Tigers last major in 2008, thinking will see - handful more at least. Then when it didn’t happen we started to wonder if we saw the last. I know I won’t take for granted seeing him win this time.

For me, Tiger is like Lebron.  I will never bet against him.  That doesn't mean he won't fail, but I don't bet against him.  I voted 5+ b/c you never know.  Jack won his last one at 46.  Phil is 48 and still in contention at a lot of tourneys.  Maybe I'll bet against Tiger after that.

Can bet against Lebron this postseason!
