Bad look, but hey it happens. Hope he doesn't do it again.

posted by IliketurtlesI figured this might be another terrible screenshot like the Trubisky/Burton thing where there was no way for him to actually make the throw but yeah TT had some time and probably should have made the throw but I mean at least he got a 1st down....
That was so dumb.
But also on this, while the throw could be made, you also risk getting hit as you throw and it’s picked. Or incomplete and no first on a 3rd down. Based on the screenshot, he needs to take a plant and step, and the defender is already free of the block. Tyrod is gonna get smoked, best case, right after the ball is launched. Screenshots inheritantly are dumb.
Now, if the video shows he already took a step with Landry breaking free that’s different. But this exact screenshot tells me very little. Need to see it in real-time from the all-22.
Uggh...this is gut wrenching. If Avery (thanks for the strip on TheRapist) blocks Pouncey, instead of celebrating, Garrett probably never blocks Pouncey in the back and Schobert scores...

Yeah wtf is he doing

He's pulling a Dwayne Rudd, minus the helmet throw....celebrating a victory before the game/play is over. Just little shit like this that is costing them W's.

I get what you're saying but, from what I see, that's roughly a 30 yard throw. He shouldn't have to plant & throw. He should be able to loft that up on the run. If he can't make that throw, he doesn't belong back there. As you said, that still shot doesn't tell the whole story but it tells me he has enough room to toss it before getting hit.

That’s like a 45 yard throw br. Landry’s running at full speed, TT would need to throw it 15 yards in front of Landry for him to catch it.

I am going to sound like a broken record, but shit like that is on coaching. You don't see consistently good franchises doing that type of dumb shit.

Yeah, if he has his eyes downfield it doesn't even need to be a perfect throw. That's easily 6. Who knows what is going on thru his head at that speed, but the best QBs would not often miss that throw. It's easy to say Mayfield would have made the right decision, but we don't know yet. I sure hope so.

Even if that were the case, that's a throw any NFL QB should be able to make. As was said, throw doesn't need to be perfect. It doesn't ALL fall on him. Plenty of blame to go around in that game. Still talking about it because, for the Browns, this should feel like a loss. For the Steelers, it should feel like a win, getting out of Cleveland with just a tie after committing that many turnovers.

Unfortunately, this shit's league wide. Just more glaring when the Browns do it. See WR's dropping the ball/celebrating before they cross the goal line, Leon Lett-like celebrations where the guy with the ball gets caught from behind, etc. Just sucks because football players are taught to have their "head on a swivel" and it's obvious that Avery doesn't on that play. He's doing his victory dance instead of looking back to see if Schobert could get caught from behind.

I don't see it costing good franchises many games. We can easily come up of a list of shit the last few years (let alone since 1999), where the Browns have done stupid shit that cost them the game. The good teams find ways to win, the bad teams like the Browns do stupid shit to lose all of the time. That's on coaching.
Heard an interview with Haley yesterday where he said that "a team (offense in this case) can have about 10 mental errors in a game and still win....we counted 28."
A lot of work to do gents.
If the Browns can get over the hump and get just one win, their upcoming schedule (Jets, Raiders & Rats) doesn't look overly daunting. I could see the Jets coming into Cleveland at 2-0 after facing a not so good Dolphins team at home.

lol ok Hailey whatever. Good for you for counting 28, no fucking clue where he gets "10 and a win" number from . How about your defense got 6 TOs and you got 21 pts. Are those 18 errors on you? They should be. Way to be a leader fuckhead.

Fucking this. Your offense sucked Todd. Don’t place blame anywhere else but on your offense.

The 28 mental errors were just on the offense. That's what he was referring to. He wasn't casting blame on the defense.

How many mental errors on Hailey? I can think about of 20 play calls he did that were super shitty. I'd like him to hold himself to the same standard as his team.

I call bullshit on this, and not to mention a shitty play call doesn't mean it was a mental mistake. Regardless, he did say "we" when he mentioned the mental mistakes. In no way I intrepreted as Haley pointing the finger.

How many times did he have Gordon run a non go route?
How about getting Duke involved outside of gadget plays?
How many times did he run on 2nd and 10?
In OT how about calling the passing play on 3rd and short?
That is right off the top of my head without thinking. He called a shitty game and I question his playcalling. He lacks gameplanning on Sunday and it was obvious.

this has been the biggest complaint from Steelers fans during his tenure there
Since the Browns returned to the NFL, Team Offenses who commit 10 or fewer mental errors in a game are 132-4-1. The Browns are responsible for two of those losses and the tie.
