FOX Pregame desk…. Arod, Bonds, Griffey Jr, Ortiz, Jeter

Decent

No way Jeter.  He was a great player and clutch, but he doesn’t belong in this list.  A-Rod’s got a better case than Jeter and even he doesn’t belong on the list.

Yeah I’m just saying the pregame is incredible, best I’ve seen since 1999 ASG with Ted Williams

Man...idk

Bonds, impossible to keep him off this list.

Ryan/Maddux, one of them, hard to have 2 pitchers on the list

Griffey (until injury he was on path to be better than anyone ever).

Ozzie/Omar, one of those 2 are the best SS to ever play the game.

No worries….but down the road Jeter will be the honored royalty, you can book it.

I agree with you on him

Any list that does not include Pete is irrelevant. His hit total has nothing to do with betting on base

Agree, but he’s never going to get the credit

Pete Rose is great. Not enough power to ever be considered the best living.

Pete Rose is great. Not enough power to ever be considered the best living.

Did he try to be powerful or was he always leadoff or 2nd and job was to get on base and score runs? I agree he’s too high on many peoples thoughts due to incredible longevity and counting stats….but I also believe some of the older guys get denoted a bit based on all the ways the game is played today and what’s important now.

I believe when Rose played it was play 162 games as hard as you could….now it’s 155 with 7 scheduled days off. Hell Votto is more revered by many new age because he got on base at a great rate….Pete actually scored. Teams would easily pitch around Votto to let him and his terrible baserunning skills stand on 1st….especially with 2 outs.

Pete was an all-star at 4-5 positions and played everyday, scored 2165 runs and had a hit total that doesn’t even make sense. If not for gambling we don’t have to call him the greatest but he’s without a doubt being honored as one of them every time it happens.

For the first part of Pete's career, the mound was significantly higher, which gave the pitchers an advantage. He still put up great stats. He's not the greatest, but I think that he gets underappreciated at times. If he played a couple of decades later, his homerun numbers would have been better because the ballparks became smaller. For the first decade of his career, many of the old ballparks with the huge outfields were still being used.

Good points

When he was late in his career and passing Cobb it was the biggest thing. It was huge. In the mid 80’s he was higher up the all-time great list of living players than he is now 35 years later.
