Chris Archer is done for the season (if there is one)...and you gotta wonder if the pirates will pick you 2021 option for $11mm

Hinfsight is 20/20, but can you come up with a worse trade in the last few decades than that one for the pirates? 3 very good (at worst) players for a pitcher that starts 33 total games and goes 6-12 with a near 5 ERA. And now has a surgery that doesn’t usually end well for pitchers (matt Harvey).
Maybe Yelich trade?? But at least the marlins return for Yelich are all highly rated prospects in their system.
Sheesh, that’s an organization crippling blunder of a trade for the pirates.

RIP Heretic.

We have one every 20 years or so, which isn't ideal, especially when considering how cheap Nutting's asshole self is. He'll sure as hell never compensate for his fuck-ups by throwing money around to fix them. I'm still pissed over them giving away Aramis Ramirez for three nobodies who never did anything, which was the previous huge blunder. But, yeah, jury's out on Baz (but he was a high first-round pick), but the only thing that will keep Meadows and Glasnow from being good to great likely will be injuries, as both of them were a bit fragile last year.

Granted the Expos were relocating. But they traded Grady Sizemore, Cliff Lee, Brandon Phillips and Lee Stevens for half a season of Bartolo Colon. Grady/Phillips/Cliff all had 6 years of team control

Dont recall if it was the Ruth trade, but a big one back in the day had to be done for cash for the team to literally survive financially.

May have been NBA now that I think of it. Had to do with the Merger of the ABA and NBA

Yeah, littered with bad trades. At least Pavano was really good -- for a year.

In the ABA, I think that Dr. J was traded from the Squires to the Nets mostly for cash that let the Squires meet payroll. Some players may have been thrown in, but it was mostly for the money to survive.

That’s what it was. I think there was another condition of taxes or something being raised and they needed money to not fold as well.

I still cannot believe the Indians - As game. How they stuck by that as a 2B (to this day!) I will never understand. Just a complete ego-trip

Joe West and Angel Hernandez should've been fired a long time ago.

On June 30th 1978 Willie McCovey hit his 500th HR.....Joe West was an umpire in that game.

Looks like they are on pace maybe for an 81 game season if they compromise one more time?

They are wasting some valuable time with this.
I miss MiLB much more as we go to 6-10 a year.  I will listen/watch many of the Reds games but actually attending I prefer MiLB.

I think this new proposal will be worked out. Owners get their expanded playoffs and players get prorated pay.
