Ergonomic office chairs

Since I've been working from home for the last several weeks I've been experiencing a ton of lower back pain. My desk chair is an old dining room chair so clearly not suited for sitting in for 6-8 hours a day, 5 days a week.

I'd love a Herman Miller Aeron but I'm not dropping that much coin on a chair. I recently found out about the Autonomous brand after doing some searching online. Significantly cheaper, but still not cheap. They were well reviewed, but I'm always sceptical of potentially paid reviews.

Anyone have any experience with the brand? Anyone have any other recommendations?

The Aeron is overrated anyway. I bought one and hated it. Gave it away.

I currently have a Steelcase Leap which I got for "cheap" on craigslist. It works well.

A good office chair is kind of like a mattress -- you spend a lot of time in it, you should buy something decent. To further justify the cost -- most of the big brands (Herman Miller/Steelcase/etc) have great warranties.

I had an issue with my chair (back tensioner messed up) and Steelcase sent a dude to my house to fix it. $0.

You can gamble on some random nonsense from Staples or Office Depot, but odds are it'll start falling apart after about a year of use.

We have Aeron's at work in a lot of our conference rooms and I like them, but I'm not dropping over $1k on a chair. The Autonomous I'm looking at is $419, but they just sent me a 10% off code since I've had one in my shopping cart for a few days. It also comes with a 5 year warranty.

The Steelcase Leap looks nice, but a little more than I'd like to spend. What did you get it for?

$400.

Check out Craigslist. There's places out there that will clean out companies that are going out of business and then flip their furniture. I'd be surprised if you couldn't easily find an Aeron that way for a similar price.

Look up Furniture Liquidators in cinci.

Looks like they have a Steelcase Amia, which looks similar to the Leap.

They only have 169 of them so you better act fast.

My office chair is on its last legs anyway (I've broken it plopping down in it too much over the years), but I'm going a different way.  Looking to get one of those desk platforms that will allow me to use my work station like a standing desk.

I'm in the market as as well. Just got a desk for my bedroom yesterday. I had no idea how high priced office chairs can get.

I'm going the task chair route though, I want low back and slim profile. I have no idea what to get as of now, but I did order these replacement wheels. I have hardwood floor and I don't want to deal with a mat.

Since I'm in the market, I actually am interested.  Have you gotten it, and how comfortable is it?

Excuse the mess, but here it is in my office:

Comfort-wise, it's pretty good. I can sit in it for several hours without getting up without any issues. All back problems have pretty much ceased.

If you do decide to order, use this link (you get discount, I get credit): https://www.autonomous.ai/?rid=e9442d

Totally random but I’ve been looking at this thread for a chair for my wife, and today she told me her Dad bought her the Kinn, and I hadn’t shared it with her yet. Are the rollerblade wheels worth it?

If you are still interested in a movable desktop, my neighbor and her late husband started a company called ERGO desktops several years ago.

You might check them out.

It's still in great shape, no issues whatsoever.

You'll get an 8 word review and you'll like it.
