Have you ever had any 'close calls' where you weren't paying attention, or somebody else wasn't, and had a near-miss? I know I've had a couple happen to me.

One happened when I was a kid and my mother was driving. It was during winter and the roads were starting to get slick. A semi beside of us in the passing lane blew a tire and the trailer swerved towards us. My mother was able to get to the shoulder safely, and nobody was hurt, but I'll never forget that feeling of fear.

I got to thinking about this watching part of this vid:

Also, if you've seen worse, post them here!

I was almost sideswiped about 3 minutes away from my house just last week. A van missed a stop sign and pulled out essentially right next to me. I had to swerve into the other lane to avoid being hit. Luckily there was no one coming toward me.

I've had similar things happen a few times, but I can't think of any that would have been very serious.

Almost t-boned a guy a few months ago. He tried crossing a 2 lane 55mph road right in front of me. Had to lock up the brakes and swerve around him.

Back in Ohio in college I did a 360 in my Jeep Wrangler driving to YSU on ice two times. Luckily no one was in the other lanes and I didn't hit anything.

First year out of college I was headed to Elyria for my job and there was freezing rain. Lost control of my pickup truck and went into a plowed field. The truck flipped four times before landing on all fours. There were actually pennies from my change holder and business cards stuck in the top of my passenger side window (where the rubber seals around the window) and they picked marble size nuggets of glass (from the windshield) out of my head at the hospital.

Pretty much every time I pull onto I-75 and head into town, somebody is at risk.

When i was about 5 years old i was electrocuted by faulty fair equipment. The carney kicked me in the chest to knock me free...

Also not that close of a call, but I was driving down lane Avenue to work when they stopped traffic and redirected me down another street because when they were building the Shott, a crane fell over and smashed somebody in a car. That was always a "it could have been me moment" for me. But I was not even close enough to see it happen. Just on the road at that time.

I've had several dreams where I get hit by a train - and I mean the dream just stops, goes black.

Driving one early morning, just after sun-up and I cross a set of tracks.  There's a curve so it's a blind crossing, and as I'm crossing I look and see a giant yellow light and frickin' train not 10 feet from me.  Thought that was going to be it.  But it was actually stopped there waiting to be signaled on ahead....that doesn't un-crap your pants, though.

Was driving in Parkersburg WV near the mall and it was ridiculously busy and I dropped off my wife and kids at Outback and I drove around trying to park....no spots so I try to cross mall road to park there but sun was blinding in my face. Cars were non stop and just close enough I couldn’t go. I saw a small gap and shot across the road but at the last moment I see two other Outback customers walking across the road....they jumped and I swerved just enough. It shook me really really bad. I thanked God the rest of the day and hadn’t done that since.
