He's been leaning into more as LONG LONG OVERDUE criticism of him is beginning to bubble up.

And that was just a bang bang play that wasn't even a penalty 5-6 years ago.  It's impossible to predict where the receiver is going to go, and sometimes you end-up with a hit like that as a result.

What’s the correct football play here? Serious question…both players were moving very fast.

Dive on top? Stop and brace himself? Dive to the side and try to swipe like a base stealer touching home?

I’ve never ever not seen a defensive back just allow a guy to catch an overthrown ball. Is that the play? He turned and used his shoulder. If he dives above him he risks injury on himself.

It was a weird play and I still want to know what he should’ve done. A no win play for the defender to attempt to make a play.

I’m very glad the receiver walked off.

Not turn his body and shoulder directly into him. It’s a tough play, but he did everything completely wrong and was thrown out because of that. Wrap them up. 

I will also never get behind “bang bang” excuses. I see high schoolers avoid collisions last split second. And these dudes have reaction time and muscle ability that is 10x greater. He easily could’ve seen Pittman diving and let up, let him land, and touch him for a down by contact. Can argue don’t let him catch it, sure — but that is always going to lead to a penalty.

I’ve never seen anyone ever do that….but sure he could’ve easily done that. How do you wrap up a torpedo coming in waste high?

I sit on my couch and think the same as you….just let him land the catch and two hand touch him down, but no one ever does that. I hate that hit, I hate the injuries seemingly every 10 plays…but in that type of play I’ve never seen the defender do what we think he should be able to do.
