"The Commerce Department’s estimate “revises the government’s previous estimate for growth from October through December, which was 2.5 percent,” adding that “the jump to 2.9 percent growth was better than economists expected and means that the US economy grew at an average pace of 3.1 percent from April through December of last year.” Barclays Economist Pooja Sriram is quoted saying, “The message remains one of solid domestic activity in the fourth quarter, driven by household and business spending."
As well, scores of companies continue to announce $1,000 employee bonuses due directly to the tax reform legislation. |
I love this story so much. It is shows how much the White House as an functional office just does not give a shit.
Kids vaping, hosting happy hours, and apparently Icing is still a thing.
Citing Tax Reform Benefits, McDonald’s To Triple Tuition Assistance Funding.
The Hill (3/29, Delk) reports that McDonald’s said on Wednesday that “it will roughly triple its funding for its in-house college tuition assistance program, citing the GOP tax-reform bill passed last year as one of the reasons.” The company will “invest an additional $150 million and lower eligibility requirements into its Archways to Opportunity program, which will now provide higher education opportunities for 400,000 employees.”
NAM Survey Cited In Article Highlighting Benefits Of Tax Reform.
The Atlanta Business Chronicle (3/29, Defler, Subscription Publication) reports the because they are “encouraged by changes in tax laws, including new tax depreciation rules, manufacturers have a high level of optimism.” The Chronicle writes, “Almost 95 percent of 14,000 large and small manufacturers surveyed told the National Association of Manufacturers that they consider the outlook for their company positive,” which is “higher than at any point in the survey’s 20-year history.” Among the key benefits of tax reform is increased capital investment, and the article adds that “according to the survey, conducted in December as federal tax reform was concluding, almost 63 percent said comprehensive business tax reform would increase capital spending.”
Have a blessed Easter.

I love the fact the govt is functioning just fine. The economy is doing well. So I think the unintentional point made by that story is that most of these appointments are, in fact, useless and unnecessary. Can't imagine whoever woulda thunk that!

That, of course, begs a different question:
If an appointee doesn't really matter, why the hell does it exist?

I've assumed for a while most of those appointees probably don't do much or matter. How could they - a new "boss" every 2-4 years, roughly, who generally has never been with that group and may have limited expertise at best. And every 4-8 years these career staffer subordinates are going to alternate a conservate or liberal slant to how they do their job? I think the idea is that the appointee provides oversight and makes sure things go smoothly, but I'd guess the reality is they really aren't capable/qualified to do either.
Which I think goes to illustrate how there's a massive, unelected, government with no real oversight...spending our money and controlling our lives.
I think the Trump response to the "accusations" leveled in that article is that they've appointed the positions that matter. That probably really grates at the big gubmit liberals.
Now at 50% approval

I find it hilarious that you could type this and think it was impressive
I said nothing of its impressiveness.
No, you just typed it in a thread titled Impressed by the Trump administration and you have never shared "news" that was unkind to your crazy ultra right radical assed opinions.
But thats just me. Go on with your diatribe.

One poll, and it is one that leans historically R.
The polling aggregate and average is still about 40% approval.

When regular Americans and defenders of liberty are so portrayed, you know the nation is in peril.

Another trillion in debt is winning? I'd pave main street in gold for a 10th of that,

"Regular" is a subjective term.
And "defenders of liberty?" Look, you can support whoever you want, but you don't get to help yourself to the notion that you "defend" (whatever that means) liberty when you unquestioningly fall in step with a guy who signed a bloated omnibus, banned travel to certain countries (even for law-abiding citizens), approved a ban on bump stocks, funded Planned Parenthood, imposed free trade penalties on US businesses to manipulate the market, and has thrown a tantrum (like his predecessor) when Congress hasn't just let him do what he wanted.
Truthfully, I'm not sure Democrats could have asked for a better Republican president. He does things a neoliberal would like in policy, but his temperment makes Republicans look bad.
Democrats need to look up the term 'regular', instead of attempt to re-define it, as they do just about everything.
Trump was elected by the 'regulars', and the defenders of liberty. At some point, everyone will have to acknowledge it.
Till then, my 4 word phrase will still be a "diatribe", I guess. LOL
You could add deplorable for accuracy
Yet another step in the right direction, and hopefully the next step will be to shut down the CFPB completely.
