Look at those number tiger and see how many have come from this season. Seasons 1 and 2 were incredible and people didn't disappear near as much as they have this season. They obviously can't focus on everyone in every show but in the first few seasons, they were at least shown on screen. Some of the main characters have gone weeks this season without even being shown. I have honestly been disappointed with this season so far and it just doesn't have that "Lost" feel to it. Yea last night was better but it really needs to pick up to salvage the final season.

I just watched last night's episode and it might be my favorite of the entire series. Desmond has always been one of my favorite characters and it is obvious that the two timelines will come together. I really like pinstriper's theory.

Everyone was in LA X.
What Kate Did: Sun, Locke
The Substitute: Kate, Sayid, Jack
Lighthouse: Sawyer, Sun
Sundown: Hurley, Sawyer
Dr. Linus: Sayid, Sawyer, Kate
Recon: Jack, Hurley, Sun
Ab Aeterno: Sayid, Sawyer, Kate
The Package: None
Happily Ever After: Kate, Sun, Sawyer, Locke
Jack: 2
Sawyer: 5
Kate: 4
Hurley: 2
Locke: 2
Sun: 4
Sayid: 3
For comparison, let us look at the first 11 episodes of season 2:
Sawyer: 2
Kate: 2
Jack: 2
Sun: 4
Hurley: 1
Sayid: 3
Locke: 1
And the first 11 of season 3:
Sawyer: 2
Kate: 2
Jack: 3
Sun: 5
Hurley: 5
Sayid: 4
Locke: 5
This included stretches of 3 episodes in a row without Hurley. In fact, he didn't even appear until the third episode. Jack missed two straight as well in this season, and these numbers are way higher. They have been using this style of switch away from certain characters for a long, long time. I agree season 1 was different. Season 1 was fantastic, but inherently different.
Overall, I have really enjoyed this season. It has the same LOST charm it has always had, but like every season of the show it has evolved. Ab Aeterno is one of the finest in the series. Happily Ever After, Lighthouse, and Dr. Linus were all very strong in my opinion, as was LA X. I think it will be a good run to the end!

I am one who tends to agree it has not been the great season I was waiting for. After last season's finale I was pumped up. It's still arguably the best show on tv but outside of Ab Aeterno it has just been a normal season. I thought with these writers we could expect some amazing shows all the way to the end. I guess I just shouldn't have had such high expectations but at least I know I am not the only one who did.

You can't go in thinking every one is going to blow your mind. I fell into that trap with Its Always Sunny In Philadelphia, and on occasion, Southpark. I would be watching, and thinking, this is just not that great. Looking back, some episodes I thought were bad, ended up being much better than I remembered.
When Lost wraps up, I am sure much of what you thought was bad, or filler, will have been well crafted. This season I have really enjoyed every character looking in the mirror in the flash sideways timeline like something wasn't right. It has been very subtle, but it has happened to every single one of them. The writers' strength of metaphors, as well as dialogue that is as strong as ever is what makes this show so good. But yes, I understand not everyone will like the finale. Nothing will please everyone.

Yeah I know what you are saying. With that being said I'm definitely satisfied with the series and will be buying the seasons on dvd. It's hard to argue against the fact that it's been the best show on tv for the past 6 years.ohiotiger33 wrote: You can't go in thinking every one is going to blow your mind. ^^ haha so true. I will give you that What Kate Does, and Recon were pretty much hot garbage this season. But even saying that, those bad eps were better than 95% of what is out there on TV.

^^ I guess with those numbers, I am not counting when the people show up in the sideways timeline for 10 seconds like Jack did this week. If they showed how many times they weren't shown on the island this season, numbers would be higher. Either way, it is still frustrating to go weeks at a time and not know what is going on with some of the castaways. This season so far is just jumbled up between 4 and 5 because 1,2, and 3 were 10 times better than this season so far. A couple of good episodes here and there but too many uninteresting ones. Hopefully it gets better, and I believe it will as the final episodes of every season have generally been good. The middle shows are just killing this season so far for me and I love this show.

I thought the beginning episodes were weak. Other than LA X, What Kate Does, The Substitute, Sundown, etc. were all a little below average. Since Dr. Linus (minus Recon), this show has been hitting its stride.

Nice post Sonofanump ... I had a similar viewpoint, but you summed it up well here. What a show, I am going to really miss LOST once it's finally over!Sonofanump wrote:Merging or spliting? I thought this week had a MAJOR revelation that I am surprised people arent flipping out about.
The fact that the "alternate" universe is actually one that was crafted and/or created by Eloise and others is ridiculously huge!

^^ The alternate timeline wasn't created by Eloise Hawking. It happened because they blew up the hydrogen bomb.

I really like Hurley and it looks like he's going to be the one who will 'save' everyone in the end. Good old Hugo, the one who thought winning the lottery was a curse, will in reality become the leader of the Losties instead of Jack/Locke. His growing confidence throughout last night's show was such a nice thing to see. Can't wait for next week's show! Anyone know who it will be centered around?

I also liked the way they used Libbey as the conduit between Hugo and the parallel timelines..next week may go back to Ben's role in all of this.

I know Des has the 815 passenger list. He is now trying to piece the passengers together. Why did he hit the real Locke?

^^^^To prevent him from getting to go to the island when the plane initially crashed? Then he wouldn't end up as smokey Locke?Sonofanump wrote: I know Des has the 815 passenger list. He is now trying to piece the passengers together. Why did he hit the real Locke?

^^ This is an alternate timeline. The plane never crashes in this one.
What I think, is that Des saw him in the wheelchair, and knew that he needed to get Locke taken to the hospital where he would be treated by Jack, thus making the two of them aware of the normal (island) universe as he and Hurly are now aware.

OK, just like Locke had the accident fleeing Ben after he shot Matthew Abaddon. Jack has met Locke, maybe he will go further with the surgery once he gets him under the knife and try to fix his spine.ohiotiger33 wrote: ^^ This is an alternate timeline. The plane never crashes in this one.

nice theory ohiotiger ... hmmm, hadn't thought of that. What about this: did he wait to run over Locke until Ben was there to see it, so they could connect on some different level? Ben killed Locke in one universe, maybe Locke dying in front of Ben would spark his look into the parallel universe?ohiotiger33 wrote: ^^ This is an alternate timeline. I am aware of the alternate timeline and that the plane never crashes...but Eloise said things in the last episode or so that made it seem like she knew there was more to these people just being on the same plane. SOMETHING happens where she helps to construct the whole timeline where the plane doesnt crash. Its not as simple as "the plane doesnt crash" or they set off the bomb so no crash. I cant remember all of her comments off the top of my head, but she eluded to Desmond that he should just be happy with being alive and he shouldnt go digging things up. That tells me she had a hand in changing things and that she doesn't want the survivors to remember the "other" version of the plane story.ohiotiger33 wrote: ^^ This is an alternate timeline. ^^ Obviously she knows about the people on the plane since Desmond also knows which is why he tried to run over Locke last week. Doesn't necessarily mean she created the new timeline. She very well may have and I'm sure we will find out soon enough, hopefully.
