kizer permanente;1873123 wrote:You have a hard time reading. I have no problem throwing downfield with kizer. That is his skill set. But I do have a problem throwing downfield so often when we don't have receivers with that skill set. We had 11 drops today for almost 200 yards. And today wasn't unique. We have drops when kizer makes perfect throws, let alone when he throws its behind them or low. Hue needs to recognize this. He needs to get Duke more touches. He's literally our only sure handed receiver. Devalve 2nd and he even has issues. That's a big problem for a team who wants to throw it downfield all the time. That's on Hue.
i had high hopes for the browns and Hue last season, but after they botched another draft and seeing him decide to start Manziel 2.0 , i threw in the towel for this season.

Look on the bright side: you guys appear to have gotten it right with Pryor. 8 receptions for <100 yards and 0 touchdowns so far this season.

A few on here (not me) said it prior to the season....I have no faith that Hue Jackson will try to establish a running game, nor do I think he really has an interest in doing so. He is so fascinated with airing it out that it's going to cost him his job.

After watching yesterday, I can't even try to defend these guys anymore. They're the worst team in the league and I honestly don't know if they'll ever get it right.

Which doesn’t make sense to me, because he did the exactly opposite with with Dalton.

I don't get it. They had Kizer under center for the start of the game and Crowell rips off a 10 yarder, then two short runs, then a 6 or 7 yarder and he just gives up. By no means am I an NFL offensive coordinator (nor is anyone on here) but it's common jackass sense that you don't give up on the run that quickly. Yeah, they dug themselves a 21 point hole but he gave up on the run long before that. Nothing pisses me off more than seeing that the QB is tied for the top rushers.

They shelled out ALL of that money for the O-Line and you're going to tell me they can't run block, as a unit? Bullshit. Hue's digging his own grave and, when it comes, I won't feel sorry for him.

And Gregg Williams isn't getting a pass here either with that shitty defense he put out there. I could see that long TD to Hilton coming a mile away. There were sometimes I'd see them in man to man on the WR's, Peppers playing in his usual spot (the centerfield bleachers) and 8 men on the line. I kept saying 'if Brissett hits one of those WR's in man to man, they're going to break free and go." Sure as shit Hilton burns them.

I guess what pisses me off the most is that a team THIS young isn't supposed to lead off with their first game being their best, and then get progressively worse. An upward trend would be nice.

I don't get it with Hue. Or any coach that comes to Cleveland really. They spend their career doing something impressive (Hue's handling of Dolton) and then come to Cleveland do the exact fucking opposite.

I'll give williams a pass on this one, as the defense has been overall fine this year and they were missing some key starters yesterday. But damn, they were getting shredded. By fucking jacoby Brissett.

Not to mention, if Taylor doesn't jog on the Hilton TD, he tackles him 2 different times. That was one of the worst/laziest efforts I've ever seen.

Don't even get me started with this. That was Bad News Bears shit right there. If guys like Britt, Coates & Taylor are going to half ass it, might as well put young guys in there who are hungry.

LOL, yeah right. This team went from a potential 7-8 winnable games (on paper) to zilch after yesterday's performance. CHI, JAX & NYJ's all at least looked like they knew how to play football. CIN may have blown it in overtime but at least they hung tough, with a good team, on the road.

Never been that high on crow. Average at best. He would be a decent back for depth.

Not to mention he was bellyaching about his amount of touches last week (part of it being that he's in a contract year).

Even if they were to right the ship, and Crow were to go for 1200-1400 yards, I bet he's still not on this roster next year. This regime will let him walk.

I think he's a decent back, but one of those guys that gets better with carries. I think he's has explosive traits, but not the best vision. His blitz pick up has been shitty, and if Hue isnt going to commit to the running game we need a guy like Duke in there that can be effective with 7-10 carriers.

Posted for BR:

[h=3]T Joe Thomas, 87.6 overall grade[/h] It was another quiet day for Joe Thomas, as he went about his job with the kind of near flawless performance we’ve come to expect. He built on his snap streak, didn’t surrender a single pressure and just for good measure was the highest graded Browns run blocker and their highest-graded player. Would you expect anything else?

Really? Because I've seen some of their weekly QB ratings and it wouldn't surprise me if that had Sean Salisbury as a better career QB than Aaron Rodgers. One of their guys is a born citizen of England who has never sniffed playing the game and does it because he's fascinated with it and does it as a "hobby." I have no issue with metrics but people seem to put WAY too much stock in what these guys say and hold it as the end all, be all gospel.

I also have no doubt that Thomas probably did grade out well against the Colts but, again, tell me about that victory he lead them to?

Their QB ratings do make me o_O sometimes, but that’s because TDs/INT ratio, moving the chains, and leading teams to wins are more important to us when it comes to QBs. They are graded on every play, and none of us are truly going to give a fuck about that one good play the QB made, because he threw the ball out of bounds. Coming up with a rating system for the QB position isn’t easy and will always be criticized (I.e qb rating and qbr). There are a lot of variables that play into what we all could consider a good performance for a QB.

I can understand the criticism for their QB ratings, but if that is your entire argument against PFF, it is weak at best. It’s a very good tool for grading every other position. They watch every play and they have a lot of football guys (the British guy isn’t the only guy grading them) grading out the plays. They average out everyone’s grades, so it’s not like they have one guy per team grading out the games. This is the same grading system that many NFL, college, and even high school teams to a lower extent use. The teams that don’t use the same grading system, use something very similar.

Come on BR, you played football. Your coaches didn’t grade you out every week? There were plenty of times where I thought I had good games (made some good/important plays) and then I would come in for film session to get my ass chewed out with my average grade.
