^ So with #5 players cannot call timeouts during a possession?

Yes. But he was more getting at coaches bailing out players on the court. I think he was really gearing towards coaches not being able to call timeouts during live action, but just threw out the no live ball timeouts as another alternative.GOONx19;1714033 wrote:^ So with #5 players cannot call timeouts during a possession?

I would vote for 1,2,4, and the coach's portion of 5.Laley23;1714030 wrote:Agreed.
Would also like to see the changes Bill Self mentioned a few days ago implemented.
1. Shot Clock does not reset to 35 on a foul. Stays at what it is or resets to 15 or 20 if below whatever number they decide on
2. 8 seconds in the backcourt
3. Backcourt count does not reset with a timeout
4. Eliminate 2 timeouts
5. No live ball timeouts (except after a make) OR coaches cannot call for timeout except after a make

Pretty random, but it sounds like Ben Howland going to Mississippi State. I never thought much of Howland, but in-comparison sake, this is a homerun for MSU.

I am with you on eliminating 2 timeouts. With TV stoppages there is no reason for that many.Laley23;1714030 wrote:Agreed.

Also like the no live ball timeouts. I am glad they took away the ones a few years ago when players were saving the ball out of bounds.
I would like to see them go to a 30 second time clock.
As for the clock not resetting on a foul, not sure I like that one.

- 30 second shot clock (c'mon, the women are using 30)
- Bigger restraining area around the hoop
- Maybe back the 3pt line up another foot, but I am fine with where it's at now

My main reason for wanting this is I think the officiating has gotten so bad that teams get hosed for great defense for 25+ seconds and then a shit foul call resets it to 35. Almost impossible for a human being to play defense for 65+ seconds without having a lapse.thavoice;1715887 wrote:I am with you on eliminating 2 timeouts. Its not like a foul keeps it at 2 seconds or whatever. It still gets reset. It just gets reset to 20 seconds instead of the full 35.

They need to change the 1 and done rule.
A player can go straight from HS; but if they choose college, they must stay 2 years.

It's not a college rule though. Players aren't forced to play in the NCAA, and the NCAA can't force a kid to stay there. This one is in the NBA's court and according to reports, Silver isn't interested in changing it. Basically, the NBA has it great right now. They basically use the college game to test a kid against the best amateurs in the world and on a massive stage. They get a free evaluation.wildcats20;1715935 wrote:They need to change the 1 and done rule.

Alabama has reportedly offered Greg Marshall 6 years/31.5 million. That's pretty crazy guaranteed cash for a basketball job...

Inevitably WSU will pony up an offer for him, but find it very difficult to believe they would get very close at all.Iliketurtles;1716763 wrote:Damn I know he's got it great a Wichita State right now but thats a lot of money to turn down.

Diamond Stone picks Maryland over Wisconsin. I wasn't following closely, but I'm mildly surprised.

His AAU team and coach were sponsored and connected with Under Armor. Maryland, well, is also the one on his list.Mulva;1716791 wrote:Diamond Stone picks Maryland over Wisconsin. I wasn't following closely, but I'm mildly surprised.

Alabama
Arizona St.
DePaul (conference, not program)
St.John's
Tennessee
Texas
All big time gigs that have opened up since the end of the season. Am I missing any others?
Howland took the job at Mississippi State and Mark Price took the Charlotte gig (really suprised by this one, could end up at Georgia Tech in a few years).

Texas women lost so bad (UCONN beat them by 51) that they fired the men's coachwildcats20;1716906 wrote:Rick Barnes is out at Texas.
People throwing around Gregg Marshall, Shaka Smart, Archie Miller on Shaggybevo. Saw an article indicating mutual interest from the first two.

I figure it is way premature, but I've already seen shit saying that if that is true, Wichita already knows they want Chris Jans from BG. Served as Associate HC at Wichita from 2011-14.wildcats20;1716938 wrote:Forde is saying Marshall has told Bama no way and that he has his eyes set on Texas.

George Mason and Nevada open in terms of second tier jobs. Anthony Grant seems like he'd be a good fit for Mason.

Bobby Hurley is getting thrown out there for about every non-elite opening as well. No idea if he's actually interested but it keeps coming up.

Heard this morning that Chris Mullins was offered the job.
