MSU got fucked with that (non)-OB call at the end.

Oh well. We all win with overtime of this game.

FYI I started a thread for the selection show, as we've done in past years.

Well, MSU went cold in OT. Disappointing end after a great 40 minutes.

Trice trying to play hero ball is usually a bad move for MSU. Which he did the entire overtime.

So glad Tom Izzo is being brought to justice today. Beyond tired of watching his teams only play good basketball for 4 days a year and then be crowned Big Ten champions. They were totally undeserving of that title this season.

Love seeing Izzo squirm.

Anyone watch the 30 on 30 with Laettner? Only saw the last 20 min but liked it. Have it recording later.

I enjoyed it. I am too young to really "hate" Laettner, but watching some of the highlights I think I most definitely would have. Backed it up, though.

I thought it was really boring, to be honest. Not much insight into anything.

One of the least enjoyable ones Ive seen in awhile.

Agreed. Had random pieces that didn't fit. Like they had Jalen rose just randomly say that some guy on Michigan's team played with a guy from unlv's team in hs. That was his spot... I was like huh?? What's that have to do with this story. Or having that Asian actor on there.. why? Wasn't their best effort. Certainly didn't make me not hate him any less.

Considering the topic at hand, I find this post amusing. Lol.

It was a groundbreaking moment that really defined my sports life. Same with the college basketball world. I was 9, and like many others, my UK fandom went to another level that day. With that said, it's a story that is tough to really turn into a 2-hour documentary.

Duke was dominant, and it led the way to one of the greatest classes ever.
UK was on it's way back, and it led the way to an even more dominating run in 1995-1998, capped off with an amazing comeback against Duke.

After that, UK and Duke have only met twice, and never in the NCAA Tournament.

As a Duke fan, I found the piece enjoyable, but agree that there have certainly been better 30 for 30s.

It definitely wasn't one of the best. But as a Duke fan I really enjoyed it. It was pretty awesome to relive those memories.

Also I know this isn't the betting thread but I'm seeing Georgetown is about a 7 or 8 point favorite over EWU. I've put $110 on EWU lol.

I just didnt understand why they didnt go more in depth into his life and shit. They spent 85% of it on the on court stuff, which every saw when it happened. Then way too much time on a single shot. The shot was certainly a huge part of his legacy, but it was a 4 year journey, and they barely touched on any of it.

Yeah I think if they would went into his life a lot more that would have been awesome. I'm sure a lot of people figured that he was some rich over privileged kid.

Exactly.

I got more out of his interviews on ESPN Radio than I did this lol. It was still good TV, cause almost all the 30 for 30s are. But, just subpar and seemed even more hyped than some others.

Guess I'll ask you to explain your next to last paragraph. 4 straight final 4's, 3 times in finals and 2 championships

I guess it's up for debate which is better.

During Laettner's career, Duke was 123-26, 4 Final Fours, 3 Championship games and 2 National Titles
During 1995-1998, Kentucky was 132-16, 3 Final Fours (1 Elite 8), 3 Championship games and 2 National Titles

Laettner showed his true character when a brawl broke out at a high school game(Nichols-vs-South Park) and he ran even though he instigated the fight.

How you know the NIT really does no longer matter.... They are experimenting with a shorter shot clock during the tournament.

I hope it ends up being the greatest NIT ever and immediately gets implemented for the whole season.

Jamie Dixon going to get knocked out in the first round. He has aged a ton in the past 5 years.

Agreed.

Would also like to see the changes Bill Self mentioned a few days ago implemented.

1. Shot Clock does not reset to 35 on a foul. Stays at what it is or resets to 15 or 20 if below whatever number they decide on
2. 8 seconds in the backcourt
3. Backcourt count does not reset with a timeout
4. Eliminate 2 timeouts
5. No live ball timeouts (except after a make) OR coaches cannot call for timeout except after a make
