I'm not using that stat, you are. I'm using UZR and if I have to, DRS (defensive runs saved). Sorry that you're an old school guy who refuses to acknowledge that sometimes the numbers invalidate the eye test.

You know who else was like that? Lionel Hollins, and now he's out of a job.

Lol so you use their stuff for your argument, then don't defend it when it's called out?

And you're in law school?

Fangraphs' reputation speaks for itself. I don't need to defend something that doesn't need defended. Obviously that went over your head, and I don't even mean that in the douchiest way possible, it really just went over your head.

I92 isn't an old school guy. Just because you're older than 35, doesn't mean you're old school.

He watches a lot of baseball. I'd trust his valuation over some stat that says a guy with 4k career games has "won" more games than a future HOF candidate w/ 16k games.

BTW, after Bailey's performance tonight, he's is dangerously close to knocking McAllister out of the rotation, and making an all Reds starting staff.

It didn't at all. I92 and SE are tearing down your stupid WAR stat, and your argument is to bitch to Fangraph if they don't like it.

Defend it..lets hear it. Why Lep thinks Torii hunter isn't as valuable in 16k games than Brett gardner at 4k. Should be good..

Because he can't cover as much ground. The numbers speak for themselves, as well.

What's your argument against what the numbers say?! I'm not the one who has to defend that advanced metrics rate Gardner as better, you're the one who has the burden of disproving the validity of the numbers.

And if you feel differently, it means that you're saying someone who produces statistics has the burden of proving their validity instead of you having to disprove their validity, which, sorry, is f*cking stupid.

UZR deals with "theoretical" runs. These advanced stats you love so much are theoretical more than they are actual. I'll take the hard number stats any day of the week. Call it old school if you want.

Ezequiel Carrera has a .500 batting average. He would have to be the starting LF. Just edging the immaculate Xavier Paul.

I don't need to call it that, that's what it is called.

And I'm not disputing I92's baseball knowledge, but at the same time, these metrics take into account something that none of us see, and that's every single play of every single game a player plays. So while it might be "theoretical" it's still more relevant than the "eye test" alone

Lol that's fine. Still don't agree with your saber metrics. Only stat nerds would agree Ben Zobrist is an unstoppable force.

I still want to know what stat says Gardner has won more games than Hunter or Beltran?

Cause, if that is the case, fuck that stat.

Brett Gardner had a higher WAR than Joey Votto in 2010. Whether you're a WAR fan or not that gets a big fat LOL.

Haha he's not, he's just a utilityman with everyday starter's skills which makes him stupidly valuable.

I fight for advanced metrics because the eye test doesn't do it all. I won't sit here and say that they're the end all be all, but they're useful in situations where there is a large discrepancy (ie between Hanigan and Santana offensively and defensively) to say that one player is definitely better than the other.

But this is a circular argument so I'm done with it because I92/SE and I stand on different sides and have dug our feet in the sand. It was an enjoyable back and forth.

No he didn't

Joey Votto 2010: 6.8

Brett Gardner 2010: 6.0

Gardner has never had a higher WAR than Votto.

The Indians just acquired John McDonald again. Does he start over BP? In 2000, McDonald hit .444.
