Much closer score than the game was. Mcallister left in 1 inning too long. Perez being Perez.

Perez had an ERA of 0.69 coming into today. He's been pretty good this year. Blown saves happen. The other guys rallied and picked him up.

Right, I know he's been good, but he always seems to give up hits and make it interesting. I dunno what it is, but when Pestano comes in I'm not worried at all, but I don't have that same faith in CP. I'm also glad he hasn't opened up his whiny mouth yet this year.

Another nice win. Hopefully back to back walk offs has the Ms down tomorrow and the Tribe on a high. We will need it with Felix going.

Also, anyone else think Cody Allen is the closer if the future??

yeah...they seem to be grooming him for a back end of the pen guy next year. I don't see CP being retained...if not outright traded whether or not the Tribe is in the pennant race.l

Tribe will have their hands full tomorrow and Monday with King and Iwakuma going.

To answer your question...Allen looks great but how isn't Pestano the closer of the future? They need to lock him up for about 8 more years.

I dont think Pestano has "closer stuff" as they say. Not overpowering with his fastball (though it is deceptive). Allen throws it 97 and has the secondary pitches to make him lethal. All depends on his mental ability.

That said, I dont have an issue with Pestano moving to Closer. But honestly, if we have both, why not try Allen first? Leave Pestano where we know he is awesome instead of putting 2 guys into unknown situations.

Doug Jones didn't have the stuff either...it is more the mental make up for those last 3 outs. I think vinnie is the future closer

I should also add that there is nothing wrong with not having the prototypical "closer stuff". Just that the brass likely will go the conventional way...

I do believe, however, that Allen might have the best stuff out of CP, Vinnie and himself. Just needs experience.

I agree, and I kind of made that point below.

Its not so much I agree with having a hard thrower in there. But thats the way organizations seem to be moving...

Perez is a fine closer. Prpbably in the top ten around the league. Sometimes you have to tip your cap to the hitters. Fans have a short memory. Joe Blowoski anyone? Or how about Wicky Wacky?

Maybe, but count me in as another fan of Pestano taking over that role. You make some valid points for Allen, but Pestano just seems to have that attitude for a closer. jmo.

Ive got no real issues with CP. But he will possibly not be with us next year (Arbitration Eligible). Closers always get overpaid, and when you have, in theory, two others to fill the role already it makes no sense to sign him long term. I would be surprised if we let this season play out and see what he is worth in Arbitration or trade him.

Great match up today. Hopefully the Tribe continues their recent success against Cy Young winners.
