I worry about Talib and his ability to stay out of prison.

IF we stay at 6 and arent taking defense, I want Smith or Warmack. If they find a way to trade down, I'd be happy with a FS or TE. Chud and Norv are known for using their TEs.

I'd rather use a 3rd rounder (if he falls) on a project QB who can sit and learn than use a #6 pick on a QB that shouldn't be taken until the 20's, will start immediately, and likely keep this viscious "QB carousel" going..Pick6;1405158 wrote: Whats the love fest with Manuel? Not to start a QB debate, but its quite the opposite opinion you had last draft. Smith definitely isnt my first choice for the pick, just threw out a hypothetical situation.BR1986FB;1405165 wrote:I'd rather use a 3rd rounder (if he falls) on a project QB who can sit and learn than use a #6 pick on a QB that shouldn't be taken until the 20's, will start immediately, and likely keep this viscious "QB carousel" going..

Different situation this year. We have a QB who has all of the physical tools to get the job done. It's just a matter of whether that light bulb goes on. Going into last years draft, we didn't have the QB (see Colt McCoy) with the physical skills to make all of the necessary plays.

If you guys coudl redo last year's draft, would you take Tannehill at 4 instead of TRich?

Absolutely not. Love Richardson. Think Tannehill is a Ponder or Gabbert with a better o lineCommander of Awesome;1405199 wrote:If you guys coudl redo last year's draft, would you take Tannehill at 4 instead of TRich?

Tannehill has the skillset needed, Ponder doesn't. Gabbert? LOL worst QB in the league.

I see accuracy as a physical tool, Weeden hasn't shown he has it.BR1986FB;1405193 wrote:Wasn't saying Smith was your first choice.

- [h=5]Profootball focus on Desmond Bryant:
If it weren’t for the money involved this would get a higher grade because Bryant is a guy who can really play. He was our sixth ranked defensive tackle last year with the sixth highest pass rushing productivity of all his peers. But he’s more than just a one dimensional pass rusher and held up against the run well too. It’s that all round ability and versatility (he spent most of 2011 at defensive end for the Raiders) which makes him an excellent fit for a Cleveland defense needing someone who can make an impact up front.

Oddly enough (because it's obviously not the norm), I think Weeden threw a better deep ball down the sideline than a short timing route. Unfortunately, Shumur's WC offense didn't have much room for deep balls down the sideline.se-alum;1405209 wrote:I see accuracy as a physical tool, Weeden hasn't shown he has it.
I was a big advocate for drafting Weeden last year (although, I was hoping with our 2nd rounder, not at 22). I still think Weeden has the physical tools to make it in this league. Unfortunately for him, time is definitely an issue because of his age. This is the year he's gotta get it done, because if he doesn't the new regime has already made it clear they will move on without batting an eye. I do hope that he can figure things out, though, and use the experience he gained last year to really develop and improve this year. I believe the Norv can make him into something, and that would be ideal so we don't have to keep finding a new QB and can build in other areas of need.

Well said, and I believe he will thrive in this kind of offense.Dr. KnOiTaLL;1405243 wrote:Oddly enough (because it's obviously not the norm), I think Weeden threw a better deep ball down the sideline than a short timing route. Thrive is a bit much but he most certainly should have a better year than last.

Didn't he only complete 20% of passes thrown 20+ yards?Dr. KnOiTaLL;1405243 wrote:Oddly enough (because it's obviously not the norm), I think Weeden threw a better deep ball down the sideline than a short timing route. I don't know what the statistics are. However, you can also make statistics say anything you want. We were behind but close in most of our games, so we ran quite a few hurry up scenarios with the defense sitting in prevent. Hard to complete deep throws when 8-9 men drop into coverage.Mulva;1405260 wrote:Didn't he only complete 20% of passes thrown 20+ yards?
Anyways, the new offensive system should definitely be more tailored to Weeden's abilities, so let's not base our sole judgement on Shurmur's offense. We know where that got us...

The more I think about it we have t really been going after any guards ill bet money we try to trade down and take warmack or cooper. I would love this. Possibly 4 pro bowl offensive lineman would be nasty

It's highly doubtful it will happen. They would have to offer Cruz and then giants and browns would have to work out a deal and if a deal isn't reached we give up the 6th pick. So it's not worth the risk
