Too early to tell, but at this point in the season, it's pretty hard to argue with the five listed here.

It's Geno Smith's to lose, the numbers are insane right now from him and WVU is ranked way high. If they start to lose games his star will fade (how much depends on his performance in those losses), but there's just no way Smith isn't number one at this juncture.

It's Geno Smith's to lose right now. Would love to see Braxton there though.

I'm pulling for Geno to win it. I think he's on the verge of making himself a lot of money in the NFL....dude is legit.

I'll be happy with an invite for Miller. Just think...barring injury we have him for two more years.

Do you think his talent translates well to an NFL QB, or do you think he'd get drafted as an athlete?

QB for sure. IMO I think he's got what it takes to make it in the NFL....mentally, physically, mechanics, etc.

I've watched almost all of WVU's game so far this season and he's just as good, or better than Barkley. I know he hasn't faced any defenses worth a damn, but on several occasions I've thought "wow, that was one hell of a throw." It seems like he can drop it in from anywhere on the field.

Nice read on the "Air Raid" offense and his mental preparation.

IMO Lattimore will get there eventually. Wasn't it a few years ago they only invited 3 people?

^^^Thanks, Automatik, 'cause I really haven't watched an entire WVU game so I really didn't have an opinion either way (other than his seeing his crazy stats). Sounds like I'll have to check one out soon.

Geno is a good player but his mechanics are terrible. I mean I don't know a lot about football but his release seems to be too slow for the NFL.

I think they invite people based on how many votes they get. So if fourth place isn't even close they don't get an invite.

Terrible mechanics?

While he doesn't have that crazy quick release, I think he'll be ok.

I heard Jon Gruden talking about how he is ready for the NFL now. Lets see sleeper or "Chuckie" for an opinion on whether a QB can play in the NFL?

and I hate supporting Automatik on anything.;)

If ever there was a year for a defensive player to win it, it's this year. I don't think Smith's going to keep up these video game stats, and OSU's post season ban status will hurt Miller, regardless of what people say. I think Te'o has as good a shot as anyone right now.

I think Smith's mechanics are fine. He can make every throw. I think his NFL success will hinge on the mental aspect.

Best NCAA QB, yes. NFL ready, no. He has the arm, but the arm angle is typical for lofting throws against Big12 defenses. Should be an easy fix. He looks like a top 5, if not top 3 pick right now.

A defensive player has no chance. TM7 was a human highlight reel last year and he couldnt crack the top 2.

Whether you care to admit it or not, an ND defensive player has a helluva lot better chance of winning the Heisman than a player from LSU, especially when comparing Te'o and Mathieu...just sayin'

Yea, Mathieu's off the field issues were a guarantee he wouldn't sniff a Heisman.

Based on what? Tradition... shouldn't factor into Heisman voting as you are voting for a player, not a school (but it probably does factor in a bit to be honest). Exposure? I'm pretty sure Mathieu had plenty of that as he was a phenomenon and everyone who pays attention to college football knew of him.

Quality of Character/Integrity? Based upon Mathieu's past and apparent lack of a bad one from Te'o, he does have a huge edge in this category.

Also, I love how quickly the Barkley campaign fell apart... putting up Billboards before the season even started. It's one thing for an athlete to do well on the field then the school/fans push his name late in the season. It's another to put up billboards before the season starts.
