Steve Timmons was the sh*t. He had a line of clothes called "red sand" named partly after his hair.

Missy Franklin better not pass up the $ to stay eligible to swim on her HS team.

The judges in the mens gymnastics really dropped the ball by letting Japan medal.
Agreed in all three.

As cool as it is for Franklin to try to stay down to earth and be supportive of her high school, a gold medalist should not be competing at the HS level. She could actually be damaging the sport in the state because, honestly, who would want to swim against her?

Seriously, everything that went for us in swimming in 2008 is going the exact opposite for us this year.

"The longer it takes to get the score, the bigger the deduction"

I swear if I hear that shit one more time in gymnastics I'm going to have to mute. They said something to that effect at least 5-6 times the other night, and I keep hearing it tonight. We get it, you're a gymnastics genius and we forget this information every time someone new performs.

Russian gymnasts are not having a good day. Are they (Russia) still communists?

If you had a chance to compete with a world class athlete wouldn't you do it? If nothing else it would be a cool story to tell later. I doubt it would damage the sport in the state just because one person is unbeatable.

Definitely not Ottawa-Glandorf. They are the poster children of getting manhandled by men. Although, to be fair, the Titans did put up a valiant fight against St. V in '03 at UT.

Point taken, though. I agree. She should take the millions if their offered. There's nothing left to prove on the amateur level. Going back and winning a state championship after capturing Olympic gold would be like whiffing magic markers when you are on heroin.

I might would want to compete against her once or twice, but if I was a swimmer attempting to win a state championship, I'd definitely focus on an event where I could win (where she wasn't competing).

Though, you are right about the damage not being as big as I would have thought.

We need a 10 something for the gold. Barring a massive meltdown, we got this.
