Dolan needs to sell the team to a rich guy that wants to win. Buy a few stars like they did in the nineties, and the turnstyles will spin.

Back in the sixties and seventies, the tribe drew about 600,000-700,000 a year. The eighties and early nineties weren'any better. So why the crap attendence? Because they were the biggest fail in baseball.

In 1994 and beyond, the tribe was mesmerizingly good. The fans, in particular the long suffering old timers, were shell shocked at how good they were. You couldn't buy a seat.

Alas and alack, Jacobs sold the team to the tight ass Dolans...and back to mediocrity we went.

You didn't but I am saying any owner would have looked like a genius with Lebron on his team. And Gilbert walked into that sweetheart situation. Still have no idea why Gordon Gund sold when he did

Gordon Gund wanted out of ownership. He wasn't able to run the team the way he thought it needed to be ran.

Santana has a ton of potential though. His OBP (last I looked) was amazing and his ability to draw walks is uncanny. He needs to bring the average up a bit, though I'm not a stickler for BA's as I think it's a bit overrated in terms of judging a hitter.

Then you have Jason Kipnis who will likely be a star 2B.

Asdrubal, Santana and Kipnis are all going to be studs. Choo is very good and Chisenhall is going to be a power guy. Love watching him play in Columbus. Chisenhall will probably be one of the more marketable guys they have. When they finally realize that Hanahan is what he is, and devote all PT to Chis, he'll take off.

EDIT: Asdrubal is already a stud. Should have worded that differently

Well... Him selling was evidence he "wanted out." And that's fair. If he wanted out, I commend him for doing that. I just hope he realizes how much of a bonehead he looks like now. He would have been wise to sell when Lebron really got going. He sold while Lebron was still on an upward path

Are you aware of how much Dan Gilbert actually paid for the Cavs?

Gilbert paid 375 million. Gund bought the team for 20 million.

How much better could he have done? Plus he retained a very small stake in the team.

For reference, OKC was worth about 348 million in 2011... LAC about 324 million.. Gilbert bought the Cavs in 2005.. team is worth about 329 million now, but is a profitable franchise and the value has likely gone up due to Kyrie and the surrounding area improving.

Chis is horrible defensively and has never been able to hit major league oitching. Conversely, Hannahan has hit the shit out the ball since the middle of last August. Won't ever see Lonnie on the fiield for the tribe.

Gund got good ROI but he would have been wise to hang on until Lebron was full developed. He could have made more. Much more. (Sell after a western conference final or Nba final appearance)

The Cavs value has kind of trailed off since Lebron left, but like you guys say, Gilbert seems to be in it to win. Not make money. I have given him a hard time in the past (for good reason) but the dude wants to win. You can't take that away from him

Since LeBron left, Gilbert's net worth has grown by 50%. So he's making a ton of money lol.

...the same reason Mr. Jacobs sold when he did. Good business men tend to sell when the market value is at it's highest.
