i have to say...its important that the basketball and football coach work together for the betterment of each program. i understand that loyalties are divided to their sport but its better for everyone if they get along. i know sikora has always promoted his players playing basketball and hes often at the games. i cant say that those feeling were returned in the past. if both programs are successful its more beneficial for everyone. success breeds success.

I have heard, although I can't say it's exactly a fact, that Desmond will not send his son to Campbell. Evidently he has some animosity toward the school administration.

For those that don't know, QB Brandon Reyes' mom lost her battle with cancer yesterday. Please keep him and the family in prayer. Times like these when very few things seem really important.

Have a safe and blessed memorial day everyone.

and im not surprised dean...the administration has done none of its alumni any favors in the past. and i can personally attest to that. being from campbell and graduating from memorial means nothing to these people. thus the reason the administration and teachers are no longer campbellites.

You mean black and red. I think red and black, I think Struthers. Struthers wears red with black trim. Campbell wears black with red trim.

Sorry. I just had to point that out.

Campbell's traditional SCHOOL COLORS are red and black, not black and red. There is even a theatrics club at the high school called The Red & Black. It has nothing to do with the color scheme of the football uniforms. It's the school colors. They are red and black.

also if i recall correctly since were pointing out "inaccuracies" the struthers football team lost the game that determined what school would keep "red and black" as their school colors. Struthers was supposed to abandon those colors, thus the reason Campbellites accurately refer to Struther's color scheme as pink and black :D

Thanks for the history lesson, guys.

Who had Red and Black first though? Struthers, right? Campbell didn't become a city until 1922... unless your colors were Red and Black when Campbell was East Youngstown. Struthers can trace it's history back to 1798, although it didn't officially become a city until 1865. According to Wikipedia, anyway...

What year was that game played, soup, j/w?

Its in the Campbell football history Book. I don't have the book. I was to get it but ended up in a battle of my daughter last football season. Thats the reason i could not make most of the games. I won the battle so that means me my 4 year old will be at every game this year. Hooah. But yes i remember very much so it being said that Struthers lost he game and never abandon the colors. If anyone can get there hands on the book it will say what year and where it was played. It was a big game at the time cause the schools didn't like the idea of having the same colors. Not at anyway calling you out Btrev. I have much respect for you more then you would think. And as fart as Spread he has not said a word in such a long time. Wonder What happen:rolleyes:

I understand. No malice detected. Thanks.

I'm interested to find that out as well. Who was using Red and Black first, and when and where was the battle over the colors?

also it is red and black...not black and red. the devils wore red uniforms for the longest time and when they changed to black i want to say late 70s? their was an absolute uproar. we are the "red" devils...but black is still my fav. think about what would happen if they switched to red uniforms at home these days lol...but the black uniforms is a more recent addition. all the oldtimers still prefer the red.

I thought 1933 was the year the refs called the game because it got "too violent."

Who decided on Pink and Black then?

I'm a sexy guy. I can pull off Pink and Black.

Bret Hart wore Pink and Black, too. The Hitman. The Sharpshooter. The Hart Foundation. The Excellence of Execution. The best there is. The best there was. And the best there ever will be.

Is that supposed to have some kind of emasculating effect on me? Or get under my skin in some way?

Pink and Black... SMH.

Try to put your collective personal biases aside for a minute, and let's see if we can come up with a real answer here... why did Struthers vote Campbell out of the MVC? Did Crow have anything to do with it? I think he would have been our Superintendent at the time.

He's the one who cancelled football in Struthers in 1995. He's probably more hated here in Struthers, than he is in Campbell.

Did Struthers have something to gain from voting Campbell out? What was the brass's motivation for doing something like that? Was there a big size disparity between Campbell and everyone else? Or did Campbell have that bad of a reputation at the time?

One last thing... there's only 86 more days until kickoff!!

Not sure why we got booted along with JFK. what ever it was the Other MVC teams went along with it. So sad. And it could have been jealously over Campbells success back in the 80's and early 90's. I truly don't have a answer. I have heard many rumors. From recruiting Patton. to Patton didn't live in Campbell. Bla bla bla. i just don't know. What i mean by recruiting Patton is that we recruited others to play for Campbell. Not just Patton.

86 days is not a long way off. Cant wait. Hope all this hard work pays off on both sides of the ball. I will say this. No matter the outcome of this upcoming season as long as they play as a team and never give up till the clock hits zero. I will be most proud of the team not matter the outcome of the season. Good or bad. But i have heard this team is very strong physical and fast. we will see. I just have been hearing nothing but very good things about this upcoming version of the Campbell Red Devils.

Back on topic. Campbell Memorial's scrimmages this year are at Springfield Local and at home vs. Niles McKinley. The Niles scrimmage will be played under the lights. I talked to a very reliable source early this afternoon. My source is very excited about the upcoming season. That's all I am going to say.

Dean, do you know the date and time of that Springfield scrimmage? I hope you understand as a SR Raider fan I'm curious to watch both the Devils and Tigers.
