Someone should make a block poll on what turf would be installed first Campbell or East? Campbell could easily hold playoff games for a lot of local teams if it goes through.

Also another note, Poland/Hubbard no longer play on their Thursday night game to open the season and this season Struthers/Campbell open up to start the season GAME OF THE WEEK "HOPEFULLY"

I believe Niles McKinley is opening up on a Thursday this coming season against Girard. That is another attractive game.

I said that same thing a few months back. Also... Poland/Marlington is that Thursday too. IMO... there's a 3 way battle for the GOTW that Thursday. Struthers/Campbell has to get the nod though. It's only right... Struthers hasn't been the GOTW in football since 2002 (a 20-7 loss to Hubbard). And I don't think that Struthers/Campbell has ever been the GOTW.

Struthers/Hubbard has been a bigger rivalry over the years, and it has a lot more history behind it (I'm pretty sure it even predates the Campbell rivalry), than Poland/Hubbard does.

Poland/Hubbard has really only been a big rivalry, because it's been the opening GOTW the last few years and they've done a good job of hyping it up as one. Don't get me wrong... Poland wants to keep their recent winning streak against Hubbard alive, and Hubbard wants to end that streak. It is a very intense game, with some history behind it... but I don't think of Poland/Hubbard when I think of the premiere rivalries in the area.

Just saying...

Poland/Marlington could be a huge game, but id definatly watch 2 storied programs both from our area go at it rather then poland and marlington. Niles don't even get me started on why they don't need to be game of the week.

With the change in ITCL Tiers, the Columbiana - Crestview game is going to be played that Thursday night too. I don't know that it is a real attractive game to Trumbull and Mahoning County fans, but it will be a huge game in Columbiana County.

By the way, so any Campbell fans know if you are scrimmaging Springfield again this summer? Thanks.

Good point. That would probably be an attractive game... that's been the GOTW in the past too.

I just don't know how an 85 year rivalry has never once been televised though. You'd think that MyYTV would be all about putting that one on TV. It's not like the build up wasn't there, and there was no story.

Campbell was playing for a playoff birth. Struthers was playing spoiler, and for their best win-loss record since 2003. Throw in the Hard Hat Trophy and the 85 year history... and there's a pretty damn intriguing story there.

Personal bias aside... Poland-Canfield was a pretty good game last year, and there was a lot of hype and build up for that one too.

Cause there is no AAC on the line for the two teams. I could never figure that one out. the year before would have made a hell of a game of the week. and last years Struthers spoiler game would have been one just as much. Don't get it. Lots of history just as said before. MyYtv needs to get there heads out of the bum!!! Give these kids the chance to showcase what is talked about in the community. I get the Campbell and Girard game of the week. Cause its for the crown. But the Hard Hat is just as important to both community's as if not more to some.. that Hard hat is symbolic of years of games and records and upsets.

I don't know if Campbell and Springfield are scrimmaging again this year. But scrimmaging Campbell helped Springfield last season. Campbell took it to them. But Springfield did not play a team during the regular season with the size, speed, and athletes that Campbell had last year. Springfield had a solid season, finishing 8-2 and making the playoffs.

Things should start picking up again soon enough though.

They're doing exactly what they should be doing. WORKING.

Not like last year where the distractions took over and affected the progress.

No news is DEFINITELY good news.

Good news to here. This should prove to be another good season for the devils. Lets cross our fingers that everyone that comes out this year has the same goal...

soup, Mineral Ridge is not on the schedule. Struthers, South Range, Liberty, Brookfield, Labrae, Champion, Newton Falls, Jefferson Area, Lakeview and Girard are on the schedule.

soup, I think you may be referring to Devin Redding. Yeah, he transferred to Mineral Ridge from Fitch, I don't know about Alabama or anyone looking at him. I mean he is a good RB, but I have a hard time believing that a major college is looking. But then again I'm not a coach or recruiter!!!

Soup, Devin is the son of Desmond Redding, who played on the Campbell Memorial team in 1989.

soup, the varsity basketball program can only get better after what happened last season. But football comes first. And I have been hearing that Coach Sikora and staff are excited about the upcoming season.

have to be excited if the staff is excited...i trust this staff, it was a rough year but i think it was a lesson learned. one thing i pray doesnt happen....motrell tries to get away with the things his brother did. if he even slips an inch he has to go. he can become a problem.
