Not saying Clausen is better because we've seen plenty of QBs outperform those taken in front of them, but kind of just using it as more of a basis for my Panthers/Browns comparison.

Really not even close. Clausen had a QB rating of < 55 in 7 out of the 12 games in which he attempted 13+ passes. Compare that to only 2 games with a QB rating of > 76 (76 would still rank just about dead last in the NFL). He never threw for over 200 yards, and again, 3 touchdowns in 12 games of extended action.
McCoy only had 2 games with a QB rating of lower than 68. His QB rating was 80+ 5/8 games, and over 100 twice. Passed for at least 200 yards 5 times. He wasn't good, but he definitely showed flashes.
Clausen showed nothing.
McCoy didn't improve this year. That's why he's going to be replaced. But his numbers this season were still way better than anything Clausen ever put up.
