I just hope that there's not a slew of activity, their guy gets taken and they panic and do something stupid (cough...Tannehill...cough).

Yeah he could be a solid WR in the Joe J mold. Not fast, but fearless over the middle.SportsAndLady;1152195 wrote:I can't believe not many media outlets are talking about Mohammed Sanu. He's graded a 2nd-3rd round pick right now...I hope to God the Browns take him if he's there in the fricken 3rd round. I think he's going to be very good.

He always seems uncomfortable when he is on set with people who most likely know more than he does.

There will be too many options regardless of what happens for the Browns to pick tannefail. I suspect they will look for a trade rape, if no rape they will draft Trent. Pretty simple strategy.

Not sure Richardson will be there but if he's gone someone has got to be interested in Kalil.like_that;1152232 wrote:There will be too many options regardless of what happens for the Browns to pick tannefail. Listening to McShay on First Draft podcast, he thinks Claibrone is going #3 to Vikings, and Browns are locked into drafting Richardson. Blackmon to Rams.

As long as we don't draft tannehill or weeden I really don't see how we can have a bad draft. Does anyone know what time it starts on Friday?

Claiborne will also be available. Like I said way too many options to panic and draft tannefail.

MKC has been riding Blackmon's nuts pretty hard for awhile now...

I think Tannehill at 22 is a good pick and assuming we go RB/WR then weeden is good at 37

Not a huge Tannehill fan but before all of the hype he was projected as a late 1st/early 2nd type of pick so 22 would be about right.bases_loaded;1152306 wrote:I think Tannehill at 22 is a good pick and assuming we go RB/WR then weeden is good at 37
Agree with you on Weeden at 37. Unless someone like KC leapfrogs the Browns I don't see a team selecting between 23-36 who would go after Weeden. This would be assuming there are no teams looking for a starteing QB in that range. I doubt a team fixed with their starting QB uses a 1st rounder on Weeden if they see him as a backup. Weeden should fall to 37 with no need for a trade up.

I probably should of been more clear. I was wondering what time the 2nd round started. I just couldn't remember If it was during the day or evening.like_that;1152302 wrote:First round is on Thursday. Not sure what time.

I hate all these Weeden honks (Hammer, Fedor etc etc) that think it's a forgone conclusion that he has to be the pick at 22. Breaking clay pigeons does not make you a first round QB. I would be ok with Weeden at 37. But that means he is the starting QB this year and we have given up on Colt. I don't think they have yet, which is why we won't draft Weeden and why I will be subjected to more bad sports radio.

Another thought, with the rounds being split up, do you think teams are more likely to trade up in the second? With all the armchair QB analysis on Friday about how (insert team here) screwed up, is there a greater chance someone will try and be a hero and move up to get someone like Weeden?

I think that ship done sailed (their confidence in McCoy) when they tried to trade up for RGIII.OneBuckeye;1152323 wrote: But that means he is the starting QB this year and we have given up on Colt.

I'm not so sure. I think they had an opportunity for as close to a sure thing as you can get in the NFL draft and went for it. Someone who is without a doubt better than McCoy. Weeden, i'm not convinced he is, or that the Browns are. I think we take token 4-6 round QB this year and let McCoy Sink or swim. IMO they are OK with sinking because you have Wilson, Jones, Brey, Barkely coming out next year.BR1986FB;1152334 wrote:I think that ship done sailed (their confidence in McCoy) when they tried to trade up for RGIII.
I would be absolutley SHOCKED if they draft Weeden at 22. But I would not be shocked if they get him at 37 or trade up to get him after 22. After Friday We will know what their view of Colt is and what they are thinking.

And I keep coming back to this "I don't think they have the LUXURY of letting McCoy 'sink or swim."OneBuckeye;1152337 wrote: I think we take token 4-6 round QB this year and let McCoy Sink or swim. IMO they are OK with sinking because you have Wilson, Jones, Brey, Barkely coming out next year.
.
If he sucks and they go 3-13 or 2-14 there's probably not going to be a "next year" for this regime to draft the QB's you mentioned. I firmly believe they are going to be in a "win now" type mindset and go after a QB who they think can a) start immediately and b) beat out McCoy. That won't be with one of those 4-6 round projects.
I just don't see Lerner being patient if they go from 5 to 4 to less than 4 wins in Holmgren's three year tenure. He seems to have a hair trigger and could cave to fan pressure. Is that necessarily right? No, but I could see that happening. Going backwards in wins AGAIN, which is VERY possible, is unacceptable.

Weeden is probably better than McCoy. Is he enough to move the needle? No.

Exactly. They need a substantial upgrade or it isn't worth drafting someone

+1. It would be worth it if he was a regular ages rookie, because there would be hopes of him progressing thru time. With his age now there will be a ton of pressure to improve fast, and get the most out of him.
