UNTIL they get that QB in place, the ONLY way the current QB is going to survive/have a chance at having the slightest chance of success is to surround him with a stud RB & TE.
Why do you think I've been touting Danny Amendola as a possible pickup? Because he's a short/intermediate safety valve/checkdown option.
Surrounding McCoy with all of these shiny WR weapons is useless. I agree that the weapons are going to need to be there WHEN they get the QB but until they do, his (McCoy's) main options will be dumpoffs to a RB, hitting a TE in the seam or a slot guy in that 5-7 yard range.

You could give McCoy Jerry Rice in his prime and Jim Brown in his prime and it wouldn't matter. He would still stink.BR1986FB;1130702 wrote:UNTIL they get that QB in place, the ONLY way the current QB is going to survive/have a chance at having the slightest chance of success is to surround him with a stud RB & TE.

It was a fail 2 days ago, what makes you think it would be original and not a fail today?
Anyway, enough of letting this piece of shit troll side track this thread. My bad guys. I saw this morning that Manny Lawson ended up resigning with the Bengals. That's a bummer. If he wasn't signing with the Browns, I was hoping he would at least leave the division.

lol pwned. Typical of this dipshit, probably got a pity rep for posting it the first time and figured he would get another one by re-using. Pathetic.
Lawson would have helped out pass rush there's no doubt. Also sucks he wasn't taken out of our division.

Maybe the Browns could go after Vince Young and try a different Texas QB. They could draft Richardson at #4 and a OL at #22 and a wr & TE in the 2nd round, 3rd round.

Lawson actually isn't all that good at getting to the passer but does surprisingly well with his speed stopping the run and covering TE's. Kind of a disappointment getting to the passer.Commander of Awesome;1130723 wrote:lol pwned. Two things the Browns defense needs. Stopping the run, and TE's killed the defense this past season.BR1986FB;1130727 wrote:Lawson actually isn't all that good at getting to the passer but does surprisingly well with his speed stopping the run and covering TE's. I know and that's the reason that I would've wanted him. It will be interesting to see what they do because Fujita is likely going to miss games, thank God, and Maiava isn't exactly starting material.like_that;1130729 wrote:Two things the Browns defense needs. I would take Fujita over Maiava any day of the week. Fuck Maiava. That Steelers game might have been the worst performance by a lber I have ever seen.BR1986FB;1130733 wrote:I know and that's the reason that I would've wanted him. TEs killed us because we have lbers that can't cover, and safeties that can't cover. I don't either changing much this season. We'll have Usama Young at FS, don't have high expectations for that, Ward, who stayed healthy his rookie yr, didn't last yr and has a history of injuries in college, so hard to count on him IMO. We need a new OLBer to replace Fujita, and no depth to speak of behind our other 2 starters. I think a player like Zack Brown really makes sense for the Browns in the 2nd. This barring he's available and we have already gotten a WR.

Agreed, he can be cut for all I give a shit. He was pathetic in that game, even Matt Williamson called him out for his shitacular play on Football Today podcast. Even for a back up that was just atrocious.like_that;1130737 wrote:I would take Fujita over Maiava any day of the week. Fuck Maiava. Agree on Zach Brown. I'm not sure Young will be the starting FS. I keep hearing more & more about Sheldon Brown moving to that spot.Commander of Awesome;1130739 wrote:TEs killed us because we have lbers that can't cover, and safeties that can't cover. Brown to FS makes sense to me, but I'll believe it when I see it. Patty Boy's idea of creative thinking is handing the ball to Armond Fucking Smith on 4th and 1 when a healthy hillis who's been killing it all game long, is on the bench.

I'm assuming Patterson would move into the starting role unless they draft Claiborne. Don't want Claiborne at 4 but that would be a pretty legit secondary (Haden/Claiborne @ CB, Ward(if healthy)/Brown @ S).like_that;1130743 wrote:I like the idea of Sheldon Brown playing FS.
I'd also heard a rumored trade of the Browns going after Bills corner Leodis McKelvin to reunite with Jauron who drafted him. Haden prefers playing on the left side, instead of switching back & forth, while McKelvin is a natural right corner. McKelvin only got to play in Jauron's system one year before he left. McKelvin is also a fairly high 1st rounder who is pretty athletic (also a kick returner) who could probably be had for a 5th or 6th rounder. He's in the last year of his contract so if he excelled he'd need to be locked up longer term.

If its for a 5th or 6th, i would take that deal. Especially if they don't draft Claiborne.BR1986FB;1130757 wrote:I'm assuming Patterson would move into the starting role unless they draft Claiborne.
