Doubt this happens. Have recently heard he's a high 2nd/late 1st rounder which is nuts.SMITTEMS;1131584 wrote:http://walterfootball.com/draft2012.php
Really like this mock. I've heard Cousins stock is still rising, but haven't paid that close attention to it. Any thoughts on him with 3rd or 4th rounder?

Can't get too cute w/ these drafts. You'll end up like Denver and taking Tim Tebow

Last year has made this pretty sad, imo. Guys like Ponder, Gabbert & Locker were taken WAY higher than they should've been. Now this year, guys like Tannehill & Cousins will be taken in places where they shouldn't. QB's are important but these guys stock has been over inflated.SportsAndLady;1131657 wrote:No thank you!

On top of that, now if you want to trade up you better be willing to give up a couple 1st round picks. I guess the Browns might have something to do with this, but the Rams/Redskins made it worse.BR1986FB;1131664 wrote:Last year has made this pretty sad, imo. Serious question though. If the Browns or Dolphins don't select Tannehill/Cousins/Weeden, who else will select them with a high pick? I really can't see any other team willing to burn a 1st/2nd rd pick on those guys.

Yeah agreed...all NFL GM's understand it's a QB league, and they need to get their guy in to be successful...but reaching for one will just set your franchise back years. That's why I'm so against taking a first round pick on a QB unless it was for RG3 or Luck. You can put other pieces in place, and be patient with your QB position until something comes available. I'm really not against a free agent QB if it's the right person.BR1986FB;1131664 wrote:Last year has made this pretty sad, imo. I kind of wanted them to get Flynn, despite being 100% against him. Hell, if he's bad take the cap hit and get your QB next season. It beats drafting a QB like Gabbert and being stuck with him for 3-5 years.

You almost never can believe someone will take the "second tier" draft QBs, until draft day when there's about 8 of them taken in picks 10-30 lollike_that;1131666 wrote:Serious question though. It goes back to what BR and I were just talking about...GM's get so infatuated with getting their QB in place, they get trigger happy when the draft rolls around. That's only going to fuck your franchise another couple years. Be patient, get others in place, and your QB will come. I honestly believe H&H believe this theory.

I could see a team like the packers did in 05 selecting Tannehill/Cousins. Then in 4 yrs they come in and are good QBs. A shitty team takes either one and they play right away though, I don't see them being successful.

I don't want to take a chance on losing Richardson to Tampa at 5 but man if I had a crystal ball and knew that T-Rich would slide to 10-12 I'd grab Blackmon or Claiborne at 4 and then trade back up for Richardson.

If they dont take Trent I hear they will be going after Ced Ben. Good luck with that fumble machine although he did play pretty well during his time in stripes.

Cedric Benson would piss me off. Rather get a rookie in here.

Benson is horrible. His ypc have been on the decline plus I hear he sulks/whines if he doesn't get enough touches. This team wants to go "young" and they are thinking about him?

Yeah exactly, Benson wouldn't even be an upgrade over Obgynana. He probably would be an upgrade over Braytario Edwardesty though.

Curious question:
Does anyone blindly trust H&H? I'm not afraid to admit that given their history, and the fact they haven't made bonehead moves the past 2 offseasons (ie giving 2nd tier WRs top tier money, stupidly mortgaging the future for a draft pick), that I have complete faith in H&H to make the right moves for our team.
Case in point for me: I really wanted McCoy coming out of Texas, just not in the first round. As he kept falling and falling, I was afraid we'd miss out on him, but lo and behold we snag him in the 3rd round (which, no matter what BR thinks, was a really good value pick). Along with the other good draft picks we've had over the last 2 years, I have no reason to doubt H&H

I have more faith in Heckert than I do Holmgren.

Never said he wasn't a good "value pick." At the time he probably was although I could've saw him falling to the 4th/5th round. Was good value at the time. He just sucks now.lhslep134;1131770 wrote:Case in point for me: I really wanted McCoy coming out of Texas, just not in the first round. I don't trust a goddamn thing about Holmgren. He's got that "I've done it before, I'll do it again so just shut up and watch me work" air about him. Still riding his Super Bowl "achievements/laurels" from when he was a successful coach. VERY good X's & O's coach but not a good president, imo.Commander of Awesome;1131774 wrote:I have more faith in Heckert than I do Holmgren.
Now Heckert I believe in. It will be interesting to see if Holmgren tries to pull rank on Heckert again for Tannehill when I bet Tannehill isn't at the top of Heckert's big board.

Bottom 3 QB in the league says he does but we both have varying opinions on this and am not going to go back & forth on it all day. You seem to think he has something. I don't. Opinions vary...fair enough.SportsAndLady;1131790 wrote:He doesn't "suck"

Really? You can't name 3 QBs worse than McCoy in the entire NFL?BR1986FB;1131793 wrote:Bottom 3 QB in the league says he does but we both have varying opinions on this and am not going to go back & forth on it all day. You seem to think he has something. I don't. Opinions vary...fair enough.
This has nothing to do with opinions..it is a fact that Colt McCoy is not a bottom 3 QB in the NFL.

Here's last years rankings and I'd argue that Sam Bradford is a better QB, maybe even John Skelton...
