Then I should clarify, they will be a top 10 defense next year. They brought everyone back, and added a run stopping end to help with that. Not to mention 13 picks in the draft to try and get immediate starters on both sides of the ball. To say they will regress is just a blind statementBR1986FB;1129483 wrote:"Top 15 defense?" See my comment about "middle of the pack." A "top 15 defense", with 32 teams in the league is "middle of the pack." I'll give them that but they are not this great "top 10 defense" like you're making them out to be.

I will take the other side of the argument. If they had a somewhat capable offense, they aren't on the field as much, which pushes them to around 10th or so. Time of possession was a killer. I think they need to add depth, but i am not the least bit worried on defense...except maybe a linebacker.BR1986FB;1129483 wrote:"Top 15 defense?" See my comment about "middle of the pack." That's another point I was going to make. A defense gets tired, and with an offense that's flat, it leads to extended minutes. You need that offense to bolster the defense. I don't think there is a bigger motivator than the defense watching the offense score points. If we get some playmakers and a capable offense, I could see big things.wes_mantooth;1129492 wrote:I will take the other side of the argument. Last year this defense faced juggernauts such as Bruce Gradkowski/Andy Dalton (before he broke out), Kerry Collins, Chad Henne (who actually did well against them), Matt Hasselbeck, Jason Campbell/Kyle Boller, Charlie Whitehurst, Alex Smith, Sam Bradford, Blaine Gabbert & John Skelton along with the usual AFC North suspects.like_that;1129455 wrote:The defense has been getting better every year since Heckert has been here. They have been a top half defense in pts allowed (ultimately what it comes down to) since Heckert has been here. Let's not forget a defense with less talent faced QBs such as Drew Brees and Tom Brady and did fairly well. The defense is just going to be better. Maybe their stats will regress because they face tougher QBs, but not that much, sorry. The NFC East QBs aren't what you are making them out to be, ESPECIALLY Romo and Vick.
This year they get Romo, Vick, RG3, Eli & Peyton Manning, Matt Cassel, Palmer, Philip Rivers, Andrew Luck, along with the usual AFC North suspects. You may say this list isn't impressive but for Christ sakes, look at the God awful list from last year.

I'd actually take that bet (that they WON'T be a top 10 defense) but I don't want to beat you TWICE when Colt McCoy does NOT "start the WHOLE year AND take them to the playoffs in the 2012-2013 season." :laugh:DeyDurkie5;1129490 wrote:Then I should clarify, they will be a top 10 defense next year. I mentioned the defense has been good since Heckert has been here. They played well against Brees, Ryan, and Brady. The defense is just going to keep getting better. Regress is a ridiculous statement.BR1986FB;1129499 wrote:Last year this defense faced juggernauts such as Bruce Gradkowski/Andy Dalton (before he broke out), Kerry Collins, Chad Henne (who actually did well against them), Matt Hasselbeck, Jason Campbell/Kyle Boller, Charlie Whitehurst, Alex Smith, Sam Bradford, Blaine Gabbert & John Skelton along with the usual AFC North suspects.

Also give me a fucking break with Romo and Vick. Big fucking deal. Matt Cassel... LMAO. Palmer? You mean the same Palmer that didn't do shit against the Browns with less talent on defense? RG3.... OH NO! Andrew Luck as well. He is a damn rookie.
That's quite a stretch with some of the guys you listed there. I will give you Rivers and both Mannings though.

IF manning is the peyton manning we all remember. You forget to mention we'll have a better pass rush, a healthy Joe Haden and big ol jabal shread in their face.

We'll see. Hope you guys are right but all I see is a bunch of shitty QB's that they faced last year that gave them misleading numbers.

Possible on the avatar. I'm still thinking about it since the McCoy bet is already a "win/win" for you.DeyDurkie5;1129516 wrote:avatar/sig bet on top 10 defense?

It was a SUCKER bet. I'm not going to take some kids money, in this case a steak dinner, when the chances are 10000-1 that BOTH parts of the bet (McCoy starting the WHOLE year AND the Browns making the playoffs) WON'T happen. To me, that's just cruel...like kicking a puppy. If the kid gets me for a steak dinner, no sweat off my back.

Funny, funny stuff indeed. Yeah, ole Little had a pile of all pros to beat out for a job didn't he? And why didn't he play his senior year? Oh that's right, he's a slimeball. But he makes up for it by leading the league in dropped passes.DeyDurkie5;1129444 wrote:Browns fans are the worst. I'm convincced that only 10% of these fans are actually logical in their fanhood.
Take a guy like footwedge for example. Ripping on a player who hadn't played the year before he was drafted, coming into the nfl and being a starter immediately, at one of the hardest positions to learn, and actually performing decently at times. I just will never understand people sometimes.
Happy for you that you can find a silver lining in that cesspool you call wide receiver.
Look in the mirror if you want to see a clueless Browns fan. I've watched Browns football since 1960....and was at the 64 title game. I've forgotten more about Browns football then you'll ever learn.

haha can we get back to the Browns? I'm not sure why some people on here have nothing better to do then just take dumb little jabs at other people.
