Nope hard to tell sarcasm on the internet without tags. Could easily be mistaken as your legit argument, considering the QQing going on in this thread.like_that;1122529 wrote:Look above lhslep's post. Nice observation fail.

brandon weedon is better than aaron rodgers. I agree with everything you said.IggyPride00;1122510 wrote:Anyone else think that serious consideration should be given to drafting Weeden at 22?
I think he is ready to play now, and physically has the size/arm to play the position at a high level in the NFL for a while.
He might be 28 already, but that is not ancient in QB years. Aaron Rodgers is that age, and everyone considers the Packers set at QB for the next decade.
We don't know what he will become, but if we could get 6-7 years of high level play out of him that would be enough for me to say it's worth the risk.
We know McCoy/Wallace are not a long term solution, so to go through the year with them is wasting another year. It's time to bite the bullet and draft a QB that can play now so at least we feel like we are building towards something for once instead of treading water waiting until next year's draft.

I'm pretty sure it was 4, meaning 2014 would be the last year of his contract.Commander of Awesome;1122499 wrote:Yeah Rubin signed a 6 yr deal I believe last off season.

Weeden would be a 1000x better pick than Tannefail.

I wouldnt take either one with my first 3 picks...they need to get guys who can come in and play right now and can help the team out.

I wasn't sure, but if that's true...it means all 3 will have contracts coming due about the same time. It's going to be very costly to retain all three (assuming Taylor progresses and becomes at least as good as Rubin).Mulva;1122553 wrote:I'm pretty sure it was 4, meaning 2014 would be the last year of his contract.

If Weeden is 22-23 years old he's a top 10 pick. Most scouts have him as the most "NFL ready" QB in this draft outside of Luck. He gets kicked in the dick because he's 28. I'd have more confidence in him starting as a rookie over Tannehill. I think Tannehill will also be fine but he's going to need to sit a year and learn from a good WCO QB like a Hasselbeck.like_that;1122513 wrote:No. Just because he is 28, doesn't mean he is ready to play in the NFL.

From Heckert's recent pattern (if he sticks around), I'm not too worried about this. Looks like he's using the John Hart/mid-09's Cleveland Indians "model" by re-signing guys to extensions BEFORE their contracts are up (see Joe Thomas, Gocong, Rubin). He's locking up this "core" talent, long-term. Alex Mack is likely to be next and I'd imagine they will have a ton of cap space next year.Writerbuckeye;1122631 wrote:I wasn't sure, but if that's true...it means all 3 will have contracts coming due about the same time. Could be just posturing but it sounds like the Vikes may prefer Mo Claiborne over Matt Kalil at #3. If Kalil is on the board at 4, what do you do? I know that 4 is WAY too high to grab a RT but damn that would be tempting. Even IF Lauvao stays at RG, a player of Kalil's ilk should definitely help upgrade Lauvao's play.

Same. If Heckert made decisions based on whether the fan base will cry or not, he would be a horrible GM. I would definitely take Kalil.Commander of Awesome;1122728 wrote:I will never bitch about spending first rounders on o/d line.

Kalil sets up the Browns for the best oline in the league and a pwn league for the next 10 yrs. If a RB/QB can't be productive behind that line than they need to GTFO.

Listening to Pluto's podcast from yesterday, he's really complaining about lack of Browns moves and his/MKC's lack of browns insight. Says they haven't been able to get a single good rumor and says its the agents dealing exclusively with the agents etc...
He thinks we should go after demetrius bell to play RT.

Browns still in discussions with the Texans regarding acquiring Tate. If something happens it will likely be draft day.
Also are expressing interest in Rams WR Mark Clayton.
And in the "at least they are doing their due diligence department", they have reached out to the Colts regarding acquiring the #1 overall pick in the draft within the last 10 days. Colts said "no thanks." So much for Holmgren's "confidence boost" in McCoy.
