He's already turned down a 5 year contract offer from Indy. I've heard he's interested in playing in Florida.wes_mantooth;1107884 wrote:True, but more than likely he takes whoever pays the most

Cap room is very easy to create if motivated. Look at how the Steelers cleared house to improve their cap situation.SportsAndLady;1107878 wrote:Yeah, THIS is the kind of **** that will give us a better indication of where he'll end up..not, "oh he was just throwing a football at a vacation house in Phoenix, he must be going to Arizona!"
Handicapping it because of cap room on this day is not really any better of an indicator because all you have to do is cut a few guys and you suddenly have alot more cap room than you did at the start of the day.
Now that Manning is officially on the market, I think interested teams will start reconfiguring their salary situations (cuts/renegotiating existing deals) to start positioning themselves for Manning.

Crossing my fingers for Garcon. He'd be my #1 target.

You know what would be nice. Its a pipe dream but it would be awesome. Grab garcon and manning, draft blackmon at 4. Then got either lb or ot at 22 then 37 whatever we didn't take at 22.Commander of Awesome;1108126 wrote:Crossing my fingers for Garcon. He'd be my #1 target.

You're right, pipe dream. Manning isn't even sniffing Cleveland. No way in Hades H & H takes a flyer on a QB that is one hit away from being done at a premium price.shook_17;1108184 wrote:You know what would be nice. Its a pipe dream but it would be awesome. Former No. 1 overall pick Mario Williams should be the top-paid defensive player in NFL history in the near future.
Why would Cleveland offer him ace edge rusher that kind of money? Why would he consider taking it?
The Browns’ “because” flows out of this:
Mike Holmgren’s Packers broke the bank to sign 31-year-old defensive end Reggie White in 1993. He was already a star, based on eight years with the Eagles, but his years in Green Bay worked out beautifully.
He played six more years for Holmgren, racking up 69 sacks. The Packers reached the playoffs all six years and went to Super Bowls twice.
It can be argued that Williams as much as Brett Favre got Holmgren’s career over the hump.
Whether Williams would bite is the million-dollar question, but this would be the sell:
Cleveland is as good a football town as Green Bay and will prove it if the team ever gets good. Be the man who makes it happen.

Bruce Hooley made such a good point today after watching the Manning press conference about how he is now convinced and more on board than ever with doing any and everything to get RGIII.
You look at how far the city of Indianapolis in general has come under Peyton (new stadium, double the hotel rooms down town, other economic growth) that you can't put a price on having that star athlete with the "it" factor that rejuvenates a city.
RGIII has that "it" factor that could allow him to be transcendent beyond just being a QB. He is articulate, he has charisma, and brings the team back to relevance.
Those kind of guys are just few and far between.
We will never know until he is drafted and starts playing, but I think it is just a chance you have to take. You aren't just drafting a QB, but someone who has the potential to be a true face of the franchise super star.

If they pass on Griffin, I would say that they would come to regret it but with this regime's ego, I doubt it.

Imagine picking up colston garçon rg3 and Mario Williams. That's a ton of talent and instant puts us in contention for the north. If rg3 plays well.

Not debating your point, but Hooley is an idiot. Last week he said that they should take Richardson no matter what. He is just scouring for talking points on his terrible show. It is sad that Brinda is the only guy that I can listen to on there...lolIggyPride00;1108494 wrote:Bruce Hooley made such a good point today after watching the Manning press conference about how he is now convinced and more on board than ever with doing any and everything to get RGIII.

He was on the Richardson band wagon, which is why he finally admitted it wasn't until today that he understood just how big an impact a QB can have on a city/franchise watching the Manning press conference. It brought into focus just how desperately this city needs someone like RGIII.wes_mantooth;1108525 wrote:Not debating your point, but Hooley is an idiot. Yeah, I listened to his whole segment on the way to canton today. I don't disagree with any of it....I am just frustrated with having to listen to Fedor on the afternoon drive now.IggyPride00;1108533 wrote:He was on the Richardson band wagon, which is why he finally admitted it wasn't until today that he understood just how big an impact a QB can have on a city/franchise watching the Manning press conference.
