Peyton isn't going to Houston, but Schaub would be nice.

92.3 is losing their mind over Heckert's comment about Brandon Weeden yesterday. Dumbass Booms is giving out the Browns phone number telling callers to call in and demand that Heckert be fired.

It wasn't in those tweets I posted earlier but when Heckert was asked about Weeden (his age) he said something to the effect of "if he can give us 6 years that could be good...I may not even be here then so WHO CARES." The "who cares" apparently has set the local media on fire partially due to the fact that no cameras or tape recorders were allowed at this.

Eh not a big deal to me. I think he's right, if he doesn't get this ship righted in the right direction, ie find a QB, I dont think he will be here next year let alone six.

Free agent Marques Colston has been one of the NFL’s most productive wide receivers over the past six seasons. He’s averaged 75 catches for 1,040 yards and eight touchdowns per year.

But Colston isn’t your typical “No. 1 receiver.” While blessed with a large catch radius, impressive body control, and ideal size (6-foot-4, 225), Colston does not create separation in the perimeter passing game and has spent much of his career playing slot receiver in the league’s most pass-heavy offense.

According to Dan Pompei of the Chicago Tribune, “some personnel men” around the NFL have reservations about Colston’s ability to stay so productive in another system. He has played in a dome, and for a team with an annually high-octane offense that racks up yards and points. Colston’s quarterback, Drew Brees, doesn’t miss. He’s led the league in completion rate in three consecutive seasons.

A late-February story from Greg Bedard of the Boston Globe hinted at similar concerns. Citing NFL scouts, Bedard’s report suggested fellow Saints free agent receiver Robert Meachem “could have a bigger impact than Colston elsewhere.” Meachem, of course, has been much less productive than Colston in New Orleans.
Long-term durability is another concern. The free agent has undergone at least six known surgeries in his NFL career, five of which have been on Colston’s knees.

He turns 29 in June.

Colson’s is not expected back with the Saints.

Just echoing what some of us in here have been saying. No thanks on mortgaging our future with this guy. Also excuse me while I lmao about meachem. This guy is getting carried away here. Meachem is a bum.

It was the "who cares" comment, like "I don't give a fuck...you'll get what you get and you'll like it" is how that came across. The last city to make a statement like that in is Cleveland.

I don't buy into it either, if Heckert isn't here next season its because our team still sucks. Not because of his comment on March 8th with the media.

Nobody knows if this is true or not. Just sounds like the Cleveland media is bored, and they have to do their typical "hey lets stir shit up, because we are old and bitter" act.

Why would he say "who cares?" He could have just left it at "heck, I may not even be here in 6 years" and laughed it off.

Probably trying to make it seem like we really like Weeden and not interested in trading up for RG3.

I read the quote, and they are QQing over nothing. Yeah, Heckert doesn't care about the Browns and is just collecting a pay check /clevelandmediaidiocy.

Alright I'm tired of acting like a show on E! TV. Next thing you know the media is going to start pissing and moaning about Heckert only wearing Orange and not Brown during his next presser. Can we talk football again?

Colston, anyone chomping at the bit to sign him, think he'll be a difference maker in Cleveland?

The one thing that did piss me off was the way that Booms was spinning it like their only options were going to be to stay at 4 and use all of their players or to trade down. Booms was ranting & raving about "we're not going after Matt Flynn (hope this is true)" or "we're not interested in trading up for RG3." They bring forth what info suits their agenda. Heckert CLEARLY said that they WOULD use both 1st rounders to move up if they desired leaving ALL options (trade up/stay put/trade down) on the table. 92.3 chose not to bring the "trade up" scenario up though.

They felt that Heckert was horrible at "bluffing" spreading his "gloom & doom" by saying "No Manning, No Flynn, No RG3, No free agents, etc."

I don't expect them to go hog wild in free agency because at their current cap number they aren't going to have a lot to throw around (unless they start cutting vets..Steinbach/Fujita/Watson), but I do expect them to add a few starters.

If they DON'T do this and choose to play the "slow and steady wins the race we will ONLY build through the draft", we're doomed. That's another 3-5 years before the team will be able to compete if they don't inject ANY key free agents.

Never really been that high on Colston. He never stuck out to me as a gamechanger.

In the "not that it matters because Heckert will have no interest department"...plus he is 32

Per Adam Schefter...

Filed to ESPN: Colts are fielding telephone calls from teams interested in trading for perennial Pro Bowl defensive end Dwight Freeney.

That's intriguing even if the Browns aren't interested.

Since Mario Williams isn't enough of a "Reggie White" in Heckert's eyes, I doubt that Freeney is. LOL
