Why I'm wondering is that if he continues to improve their fan base will be in an uproar if they let him walk. The owner would have to feel kinda stupid if he let's him walk and he has 5 more "Peyton-like" years. Makes me wonder as this plays out if the #1 pick might be discussed as trade bait.Crimson streak;1105667 wrote:He actually looked pretty good in that video. I think he will bounce back and gave a Peyton type year

Very well could be. I would honestly rather have luck over rg3. Let's hope he bounces back

While true, if Luck is what everyone thinks he is you get 14 "Peyton" years from him just as they have Peyton the past 14.BR1986FB;1105680 wrote:Why I'm wondering is that if he continues to improve their fan base will be in an uproar if they let him walk. If it was any other position that had the top prospect I would think twice, but there is no way they are turning down a decade plus of QB stability with Luck for a few more years of Peyton.
They know more than any franchise out there how valuable a good one can be (look at them without him) and you have to strike while the iron is hot to get his replacement.
There is no guarantee that when Peyton is done that a Luck caliber player would be available to them, in which case they become the Dolphins/Broncos who have spent a decade plus looking for a replacement for Marino/Elway with no luck (pardon the pun).

Well...if nothing else I can't help but think that the Manning video was "leaked" to cast some doubt in their (Colts) minds along with show prospective suitors that he looks just fine.

It's not how he looks in a video that matters worth a shit, it's how he reacts when he gets blindsided and whips that noodle around a lil bit.

Sure it is. If he got out there and was barely able to throw it 10 yards teams wouldn't touch him with a 10 foot pole. The fact that he's throwing 45 yard rainbows to receivers and throwing to his left (which was a big concern) says the nerves are regenerating.ytownfootball;1105720 wrote:It's not how he looks in a video that matters worth a shit, it's how he reacts when he gets blindsided and whips that noodle around a lil bit.
From what I read, once they start regenerating they should fully regenerate. The "getting blindsided" part is an unknown. Nobody will know until it actually happens. That's the chance a potential suitor will take.

Lol not to be a dick BR but did you expect Peyton to video tape himself throwing 7 yard lame ducks and releasing it to the media?
Obviously this video is going to show nothing but "Peyton is 100%, throwing wise" or else he wouldn't do it.

Obvious indeed. I think it was leaked by someone in Peyton's camp to help leverage his position both with the Colts and with other teams.SportsAndLady;1105732 wrote: Obviously this video is going to show nothing but "Peyton is 100%, throwing wise" or else he wouldn't do it.

You're right from a "potential" standpoint of course. I just see his value diminished to very low from a risk standpoint. Putting the two together doesn't equal 50/50. I don't know, I'm just not taking that chance unless I'm Indy and can restructure the deal.BR1986FB;1105725 wrote:Sure it is. That was my point. Of course they aren't going to put out a video if he's throwing like he has no arms. They are sending a message to the Colts and to potential free agent suitors that he's back.lhslep134;1105742 wrote:Obvious indeed. Indy would be idiots to give him the $28 million that he's due. He already said he's open to an "incentive laden deal." If I'm Indy, and they want him back, that's where I start.ytownfootball;1105746 wrote:You're right from a "potential" standpoint of course. Then it comes down to Peyton taking an incentive heavy deal to remain in Indy or take a more lucrative guaranteed contract elsewhere. Should be a fun few weeks.

With Tony Dungy's allegations that the Redkins' bounties started Manning's neck issues, I'm wondering if Washington could even be a player for his services?lhslep134;1105860 wrote:Then it comes down to Peyton taking an incentive heavy deal to remain in Indy or take a more lucrative guaranteed contract elsewhere. Finnegan would be interesting. Garçon would be an absolute perfect fit for the wco. Mario Williams not tagged really surprised me

No shock here. I thought he'd hit the market. He's going to have to give the Texans the old "hometown discount" or he's a goner.Crimson streak;1106107 wrote: Mario Williams not tagged really surprised me

I would love to see them go hard after Vincent Jackson.
He's in his prime right now, is big (6'5) and can get down the field and make big plays. We haven't really had that kind of guy around here in a while.

V-Jax is in his prime? He'll be 30 in less than a year. He'd be a good weapon though.

He turned 29 about 6 weeks ago.BR1986FB;1106145 wrote:V-Jax is in his prime? He'll be 30 in less than a year. He'd be a good weapon though.
I consider a receivers age 28-31 seasons as a prime peak normally, so we get 3 of those 4 (29,30,31).
It's not like he is a 33 year old that is more on the downside than on the up. He could be here for a 3-4 year window and be expected to reasonable contribute at a high level though that time.
He is young enough not to be a 1 year stop gap, which is why I would like to see a decent effort made to go after him.

No way in hell are teams bidding at that price if he doesn't have those 6 TD's.

I can't stomach the thought of them tying up $50 million on him. I don't think he's much of an upgrade over McCoy.IggyPride00;1106159 wrote:He made himself a boatload of money with that week 17 game.
