More like Gene Smith just assumed and missed as badly as possible.

No shit? I've heard this, but I thought it was just a rumor. Is this in writing anywhere?LJ;1022155 wrote:OSU asked them before accepting the Gator Bowl bid and the NCAA said "no ban"
Can OSU prove this?LJ;1022155 wrote:OSU asked them before accepting the Gator Bowl bid and the NCAA said "no ban"
The first time I've ever heard of this. Where did you get that from...what source?LJ;1022155 wrote:OSU asked them before accepting the Gator Bowl bid and the NCAA said "no ban"
I don't have a direct article, but it's all over the place right nowAutomatik;1022157 wrote:No shit? I've heard this, but I thought it was just a rumor. Is this in writing anywhere?
Yeah right "oh no, we just meant THIIIIIIIIIS year tehehehehe"sleeper;1022158 wrote:Can OSU prove this?
If so, OSU should sue for BILLIONs.
Please post if you come across it again.LJ;1022161 wrote:I don't have a direct article, but it's all over the place right now
This has to be BS, otherwise OSU wouldn't be so quick to say they are not appealing.LJ;1022155 wrote:OSU asked them before accepting the Gator Bowl bid and the NCAA said "no ban"

#FireGeneSmith
Probably.LJ;1022184 wrote:I feel some deal was made with the non appeal.
Like what? I don't doubt it as a possibility but having set a new precedent what the fuck else could we have been looking at? (and I don't mean you just in general)LJ;1022184 wrote:I feel some deal was made with the non appeal.

No way, I think that would be contradictory to the opportunity they have. They can get the young guys real game experience, while not really having anything to lose. I thing game experience is greater than experience as a redshirt.charliehustle14;1022275 wrote:I highly doubt it will happen because Urban is too much of a competitor and OSU is a pressure cooker no matter the circumstances, but does anyone think we see some mass red shirting next season? I know we played a ton of true freshman this year and with the class we have coming in, it would certainly ease the loss of schollies by giving a RS to any of them who would be willing to take it.
I call BS. No way would the NCAA give out anything prior to an official announcement. I don't believe this for one second. Thats like a jury telling someone within a family the verdict prior to walking into court.LJ;1022155 wrote:OSU asked them before accepting the Gator Bowl bid and the NCAA said "no ban"
I would rather he circled the wagons.stlouiedipalma;1022082 wrote:I think this gives Meyer the chance to surround the wagons next season and incorporate the "us against the world" theme. That said, I look for some embarrassing beatdowns on many opponents, letting the football world know what will be coming in 2013.

He should be fired for accepting the bowl bid. So incredibly myopic and dumb.OSH;1022226 wrote:This is actually more than just a "bowl ban." Ohio State cannot play in the conference championship game -- if they were to be qualified enough for it.
So, it's a two-game postseason ban. Kind of a bummer for the players.
I saw #FireGeneSmith earlier on here...should've happened when EVERYTHING started. I said that from day one. There may be a reason why he still has a job...
